Alembic tone question

this is my first alembic, it's a rogue, at first all the swithces were intimidating , i tried  playing with both pickups on and got a john eintwhistle sound , very piano like sound. i also tried just the bridge pickup and got a stanley clark sound, excellant for solloing . i guess my main question is about the three small togle switches, lets see if i got this wright, first switch near the neck controls the bass boost ,middle switch controls the mid boost, and the switch near the bridge is the Q switch ? im preety confused on the proper function of all these switches. any help from someone would be greatly appreciated. i've wasted so much time and money on basses trying to get the tone and playability i've found in this one, a series 1 must be true nirvana , thanks for all you're help

You've got the switch functions almost right--it's all downhill from here!  The bass and teble switches are boost/cut--center position is flat, up toward the strings cuts, down boosts.  The Q switch, as described elsewhere in the Club, adds a narrow band boost in the down (away from the strings) position at the frequency set on the filter knob.  Response falls off pretty sharply above this frequency.  So, if you're looking for darker tones, I'd suggest using mostly neck PU, setting the Q switch in the non-boost (up) position, then either rolling off the filter knob, setting the treble switch in the cut position, setting the bass switch in the boost position or some combination of the 3 to taste.
 
Of course, your rig and its settings obviously play a significant role--don't be afraid to rethink your EQ setting if you're using the same one(s) you've used with other instruments.
