Recently purchased a 5-string Distillate bass from a gentleman in South Carolina. It's still en route to me, but I saw the serial # inside the electronics cavity in the pictures he sent, and was hoping for a little more information than he gave me, which is to say, very little.

Very excited to become part of the Alembic-player family.

Thanks!

Here's what was in the instrument file:

serial number: 89D5472
model number: DLB4
body: solid Maple
bodyshape: Spoiler with tail
neck: 7-piece Maple and Purpleheart
heel carving: deep carved like Elan
body contours: tummy and elbow shaping
scale: 34" long
fingerboard: Ebony, comfort taper
inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals
finish: solid black
hardware: chrome plated solid brass
pickups: AXY56
controls: "Distillate" volume, rotary pickup selector, filter, Q-switch, bass cut/flat/boost, treble cut/flat/boost, mono output
strings: originally set up with 40-60-80-100-120
originally made for: Ace Music custom order
birthday: not recorded, but likely in mid-August 1989

No other details to report, but surely a most unusual bass!
