1979 Series 1
« on: November 17, 2018, 05:00:53 AM »

I'm sure you guys have seen this one:

I am familiar with this bass.    It seems it may have suffered water damage some time in the past.   Although I remember looking like this WAY before hurricane Katrina.   I first saw it in a pawn shop in New Orleans.   Then someone showed it to me after a gig I played.   He kept referring to it as a Stanley Clarke model.   I corrected him.

The real reason I am posting this is because if anyone is interested in this one, it is not a short scale.   It is definitely a LONG scale on a small standard body.   The pictures don't really show much, but it is a purpleheart top bass with a maple back.

Wow! That's a hefty price tag tag on a Series I that appears in a lot less than "good" condition.

You have a sharp eye, Dela. I wouldn't have noticed, but I see it in the fret spacing now. ;)

That brings the count of these long-scale small-bodies up to what, 10 - 12 now?

Agree with Brian, it's not going anywhere fast at that price, but I love an ugly duckling. ;D

Michael,
Has there ever been any resolution on your short scale Katrina damaged Series bass?
