I saw the "Works" tour in 1977 and Greg was playing this instrument...he had at least 3 others on stage behind him...all with the LED side markers lit up and ready to roar. It was a great show.

R.I.P. Greg.

Amazing , it's been a year already!!!

I shared this story once before, It seems more appropriate Today,

In the years before Greg Lake began using those incredible Alembic's, Greg was one of the most visible Players using
Instruments made for him by the late English luthier Tony Zemaitis!

During the 1980's Tony & I used to write each other every Couple of months, He told me of the time Greg came
to see him about building a double neck instrument!

Tony warned Greg that it would be way too heavy, but Greg insisted!!  Tony went ahead & made him the metal front double neck!  To My knowledge the only double neck Tony ever made!

Of coarse Tony was indeed correct, it was too heavy! Tony said that Greg tried to make it lighter!!, And messed it up! Tony did not go into what was done to the guitar or what repairs had to be implemented! Tony was a true English gentleman in all respects!

Here we are almost 45 years later, Tony & Greg are Both gone , Thank God we have our memories!!

Wow, a year already! I was also at one of the '77 and '78 shows, and was able to see the Alembic forest up close. Very impressive! A total of 4. An 8 string bass, a 4 string bass, a 6 string guitar, and a 12 string guitar. I believe there was a 12 string Ovation guitar there as well, but not sure, since my eyes were watering so much. Made me an Alembic customer for life. RIP Greg, and thanks for the great music.

I was reminded of this by a facebook "memory" that I posted last year. "He sang like an angel, and now he is one" RIP Greg. My first memory of him was the "Fanfare..." video with the 8 string Alembic and a leather bomber jacket. I eventually got a bomber jacket for my 16th birthday, but I had to buy my own Alembic.  ;D
