Hi, Mica.  This is a cool Epic I picked up recently.  It has an unusual top.  It appears to be flame maple, but the flames are the widest I've ever seen.  Just confirming my assumption.  It was a bit neglected when I got it.  Very tarnished bridge, nut and tuners.  A couple of loose pots.  And, I suspect it has a replaced pickup as one has the gold lettering and one doesn't.  I've been polishing her up, oiling the fretboard, and new strings.  Next is setting her up per Joey's instructions.

Hi Bill,

Here's what I found in the instrument file:

top: Flame Maple
accent: Purpleheart pinstripe
body: Mahogany
neck: 3-piece Maple with 2 Walnut pinstripes
scale: 34" long
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: none
finish: polyester gloss
pickups: MXY4
controls: "Epic" volume, pan, bass, treble, mono output
originally made for: Guitar Center
birthday: April 3, 1998

There's no other notes in the file, except a mysterious neon pink star next to the serial number on the file jacket. I think this was an early example of the gloss finish on an Epic bass
