I can't help thinking that would look much nicer with all chrome hardware as it it is, the machine heads are chrome but the rest of the hardware looks standard polished brass. It does look amazing I agree!

This one is listed on Reverb, too. Bass is located in Utah.

I was just scrolling through the Alembic boards and was delighted to see one of my basses!

My wife (who is an artist) was so taken by the beauty of this 5-string, that she insisted I buy it... (I know, it's a tough life when your spouse insists on you buying more instruments... :-). It sounds as good as it looks, too.  I don't play it much, though, because I'm a 4-string, short scale guy.  The quilted maple and ocean burst pattern is stunning - especially when you see it in person.

Generally coloring a beautiful wood just isn't my thing - but that actually looks good (agreed that chrome bridge/saddle would add to the beauty).

BTW - the chrome bridge saddle sounds like a cool idea, but as you can see from this picture, the brass blends in with the tan "sand" of the ocean burst coloring.

Ahh, the one that got away... I was waiting on a check to come in and you beat me by a day on this one. Sounds like it found its happy home though, play it well!

Hey Bill... the sad thing is, I play my short-scale Alembics all the time... so this baby is mostly a show-piece.  The sound is killer, but my small hands are now accustomed to the pencil-thin Stanley carved necks (which some people hate, but I love).  I have recently had my eyes on a 3rd short-scale bass, and might be tempted to let this go.  I've wavered back and forth about listing it... so PM me if you're still interested.  I hate the fact that it rarely gets played because it's such a fantastic instrument.
