Accugroove El Wappo
« on: April 07, 2017, 03:18:50 PM »
I'm getting real tired of schlepping my 98Lb Eden 4X10 and my 65Lb Eden 2X10 cabs around and have been looking into the Accugroove line of cabs.
I know our esteemed club member Rusty has Accugroove cabs and dumped his Eden's.Hoping he'll chime in on his experience with his cabs since he has had them for a while now.
Don't get me wrong.I absolutely love my Eden cabs but the older I get the more the weight is getting to me.The El Wappo cab is what I'm eyeballing currently.I mean I can handle 56Lbs rated at 800 watts and I think my 1500 watt Carvin power amp and Alembic preamps will be just fine for that particular cabinet.
Although they are a bit pricey from what I've read they are worth it.Much like our beloved Alembic products.
Please lend me your ear and make suggestions about other avenues for light weight but powerful sounding cabinets.
Weight wise I'm pretty much Eden'ed out.

I think the two choices you have moving up are Accugroove and fEARful. Both are excellent, lighter weight, and very hifi.

I had Eden cabs and liked them, but I switched to Accugroove for the same reason that you are considering, weight.  I now have an El Whappo, which is a nice sounding cab, much lighter than the Edens, but a little bulky so I don't use it much.  I also have a wedgie and a cab with a neodymium Tone Tubby 15" Superman speaker in it.  Those are both light weight and easy to carry, so they are what I use now.  They sound very nice together, and having the 15"  and 12" in separate cabs is much more versatile.  The Accugrooves are quite expensive, so if I were to do it again I would go with two separate cabs: a 15" Tone Tubby Superman and a cab with two 10" Tone Tubby Superboys (I don't think Tone Tubby makes 12" bass speakers), all neodymium for lighter weight.

Yup rv_bass.Very expensive those Accugrooves are but in the end if they perform as well or better than my Eden's do then it will be worth the expense. The fEARful's are more in my price range but if I can unload the Eden cabs at a decent price it should all work out.

I don't have any personal experience with the fearless, but they do look great. I think if I were to buy a commercially made new cabinet, it would be at the top of my list. I'm currently loving my ancient Bag End II 15 (not at all like the current offerings).

Well I didn't get an El Wappo but I did get two Accugroove T112L cabs and I am blown away. They sound ASTOUNDING.My low B can't make these cabs fart out.31lbs each.400 watts at 8ohm.I bought them used and it's the best gear purchase I've made in a while.

My 98lb Eden cab is officially up for sale.

I went to the Accugroove website.  They were out of business for a while, but now have new owners.  They apparently don't yet have any dealers.
