I live at the edge of the 100-acre wood. (for all you Pooh fans...) It's actually bigger than that, but I forget the exact acreage. It's rural, to the extent that I have neighbors, the kind you wave at, but don't have to deal with knowing the intimate details of their life. I moved out there because that's where I wanted to be, but there are drawbacks. First off, the well water sucks. (another post for another day) Second, when you live in or near the woods as I do, you can get some unwanted neighbors too. And trust me, the last thing you want to find in your gigbag or speaker cabinet, -or your car's dashboard for that matter- is a mouse's nest, but it happens.

Every year, beginning in Fall, as the small furry woodland creatures begin to move in for Winter, I have to set traps and put out poison. At least I did... until I got an Alembic F-1X preamp and a power-amplifier, plus some speakers to handle it. Then (because of you guys) I learned how to use the crossover/bi-amp features now available to me. See... I used to just practice through a petite little 50w Traynor practice amp. Now I got a couple kilowatts pushing 33Hz around, shaking every timber in the house, at relatively low volume.
And I ain't seen a mouse -nary a sign of them- in two years.

*don't really know how Mica can work that unexpected benefit into the advertising.... (maybe a Pied-Piper theme?) but there you have it - in addition to being a great little preamp, the F-1X also eradicates mice.
