Through the persuasion of some friends (Trevor Lindsey and Robert Kramer), I entered the Alembic world just last year... so I'm a newbie. Sure, I watched Clarke, Entwistle and other greats play Alembics, but I've always considered them over-priced and believed other basses were just as good for a lot less money. Alas, I was wrong... so wrong! Having played Fender, Fodera, Tobias and a billion other basses over the years, I've never seen or played anything like my Alembic. When set-up properly... in terms of beauty, artistry, tone, feel, and playability... it's a game-changer - especially in a live setting!
So, as a 51-year old bass player, I now admit... it took me 37 years of playing basses to see the light! Don't ever lower your standards, even if it comes at a price... Alembics are worth every penny!
