RF Noise in Older Non-Series Instruments (Ferite Beads)
« on: March 03, 2005, 10:01:50 AM »
If you are experiencing RF noise, radio frequency interference, in your older non-Series instrument, check the control cavity to see if there is a ferrite bead.  The bead is a cylinder, looks like a short water pipe, that the leads from the pickups pass through.  Here is a picture.  If you're getting noise and you don't have a ferrite bead, then that may be the problem.  You can order one from the shop.  The leads should pass through then loop back and pass through again; the more wire that runs through the bead, the more effective it is.
