There are three finishes for the black Series I/II pickups and the AXY pickups: 1. plain 2. embossed "ALEMBIC" in block letters 3. gold stamped "ALEMBIC" in script
The plain and embossed are identical shapes. Note that the newer gold stamped version is slightly different:
In most cases, the pickups are interchangeable in Spoiler, Distillate, and other basses with AXY pickups. Sometimes the threaded inserts will not perfectly align but usually still function. For best fit, if you are changing from one type to the other, fill the holes and remount the threaded inserts to match the current pickup.
Older Series I and II basses will not always accept the newer shape (gold stamp on ABS plastic). (Message edited by mica on May 23, 2014)
