Does anyone use a Mesa 400+ and Acme speakers? What has been your experience?

I don't have any experience with that pairing, but I do own an Acme LowB-2 and was just playing a 400+ last night at the music store and wondering exactly the same thing as you!  Incidentally, I also played a Walkabout Scout (w/12) with a Modulus 5 string.  Until the power of the B string caused the 12 speaker to make some very unnatural noises, it sounded great.  Not the fault of the speaker - I had a lot of bass and too much volume dialed in.  Great sounding amp.

I always loved the buttery tone of that amp, but could never bring myself to want to carry it around.  You also never 'own' it, since it is pretty expensive to re-tube every few years.  If money and weight were no object, though, I'd love one.

I have a Mesa Boogie 400+ and LOVE IT, it has all the power that I will ever need and more, I run mine at 4 ohms and it's a monster. I've had it over ten years and have only retubed it once. I bet it will sound great with the Acme boxes,As far as tubes go, it will cost about $250.00 to  retube but if you buy a new one, Mesa/Boogie gave me a half off my first tube order,(don't know if they still do that) but it's the best amp I've ever owned!!!!!

Thanks. There's a couple of players on talkbass using lesser powered all tube Aguilars with Acmes and loving it. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1430301#post1430301
