I am working on fine tuning my stage sound. All of the rigs discussed on this forum probably sound excellent playing alone but when you are on a stage with drums, guitars and a PA I find that the sound is altered from what you hear sitting in front of your cabinet at home. Depending on many variables like where the listener is relative to the cabinets, the sound will differ.
When I am practicing alone sometimes I like to scoop the mids...the old smiley face EQ. When I practice with the band or at a gig I like to use more mids to cut better, more punch, less boomy, etc.
If you are using an Ampeg head, what settings are you using for stage work?
On my 3Pro with a 410HE + 15E I turn my 410 horn up 25%, bass at 2:00, mids at 2:00, Freq selector on 4 or 5, treble at 3:00 and the EQ on with the 900, 2k and 5k boosted. I don't push in any of the Bright or Ultra Low buttons. I get a nice punchy sound with lots of highs that don't get lost in the sauce. I have an SVTII also but I am going to have it re-tubed with 88's so I'll need to experiment with that when I get it back.
Any good settings to share??
