i didnt realize i lived so close to them. so i took a ride over there friday. nice people, interesting selection of upper $ basses.
i bought a set of labella slapper5 strings.
upon installing them the b string snapped.
called them up - no problem bring it back
so i brought direwolf with me.
they installed the string and adjusted the neck, checked the intonation. aFter i asked how much i owe you- he said- no charge- They recommend having the neck checked app 6 months after receipt of a new instrument -
it was nice to be treated so well

That's what Tim told me about my Big Bear...about 6 months after I get it before making any major neck adjustments or anything else. That way it's had the chance to go through a few climate changes.

Brian and Chris at GGuitars are two of the most professional and accomodating guys I've ever dealt with. I bought my Tribute through them last March and couldn't have been happier with their service. If you see them, please tell them I said hello!

Do they actually have any Alembic basses in stock? Their web site has been conspicuously devoid of Alembic basses for several months.

they had not one alembic bass is stock
i think they prefer alembic guitars,,,that they had

Well, they had a pretty cool preowned Alembic bass on consignment till late last year ;-)

They had a new Series I for about a year, but they couldn't sell it. Once it made a round trip across the country to Cali, it found it's way back to the east coast Eden aka NJ, LOL!

I think G-Guitars is THE place in the North-East to go and check out highend gear. Sadly no Alembics in stock right now, but they always have something coming in. (A Ken Smith 7 string in stock right now) Lots of trade-ins / consigns too. Right Christian? In the past, they had a few really cool guitars: A pre-owned 5 string Epic fretless, a Status graphite 5 string, and a new Lawrence 5 string fretless chamber bass with inlaid dragonfly! When I bought my Europa 6 string from them, they had it hanging right next to Peggy, a CocoBolo Rogue 4, and a Quilt Maple Series 1-4 string, all behind the glass showcase. Wow! Alembic Grand Slam! Just after I took mine home, they got in an Essence 5 string with Buckeye Burl that was smokin'! Their showroom was designed by an architect, and it's very cool. You can spend hours there without hassle. You can even set up a special appointment time outside of business hours to your liking. That's more than most others would do! I pass them on the way to work each day, (on the Q Bridge)and peek up at the guitars in the windows. But you won't see Alembics up there - They wouldn't want the sun to bleach them! I have seen Parker Flys in the windows though, and many vintage F*****'s too.
What's that F stand for? Frankenstein? He had bolts in his neck too! LOL

what do I read here ? Peggy and your gorgeous Europa 6 were neighbours when displayed at G-Guitars ? That's really funny, I love these little stories. It's a small world we live in, right ?

Yes Christian, right next to each other in the big glass display. In fact the first time I saw Peggy at the store, I was smiling and reminiscing, and my eyes started to take in all the other Alembics too. I followed up the necks of Peggy to the Europa 6, and just gawked for about 10 minutes before pinching myself. That's when I knew that I wanted the Europa. Once I had her on deposit, then it hit me that I had ownership of first Peggy, then the Europa right next to her. It was a weird sort of irony, and a good warm fuzzy Alembic moment!

Don't forget my Quilt top/back Series I 4-string...it was apparently Peggy's neighbor as well, LOL!

Another weird coincidence...my Custom Orion that I ordered in late '03 and the Series I (which I just bought new in November '05) were built within 6 instruments of one another in '04.
