Has anyone used the Orange AD200 bass amp? I just found on online a while ago (never heard of them before). I've read nothing but good reviews, but it seems like the amps themselves are hard to come by. Anybody have any feedback?

Also, what is a good cab to use with the AD200? I was thinking an Ampeg 8x10 or something similar. Thoughts on that would be cool too. Thanks.

Check out this club. I have found it invaluable for my Hiwatt. They are to vintage amps what this club is to Alembics. They have sections for Hiwatt, Orange, Vox, Marshall and Fender enthusiasts...among other things.

MAN I haven't heard the name Orange in years. I remember our guitar player had one back in the 80's.

The first time (I must have been about 16, say 1971)) I ever saw a live band, I went to the local teen/no-alcohol-yet club with my friend who just got his license. I could hear the band from outside. Got in there, they're playing the Mac's 'Tell Me'. Two guitars, bass, Hammond, and drums. The lead player was standing there in a Rod Stewart shag, platforms, cool suit, playing a TV Yellow, double-cut, two-pickup LP Special through a Orange head atop two Orange 412s. Got to the end of it, went straight into 'Down By the River', all blue lights and the Hammond just laying out that slow-Leslie fog.
My head started spinning.

I always hear people my age talk about the Beatles on Ed Sullivan (me too), but that sight of that Orange stack just said this is rock and roll, son.

Ah, but I was so much younger then . . . .

Ah yes, Orange amps. One of the classic wierdo cabinet amps, along with Kustom (who can forget the great 'tuck and roll' of rock 'n roll), and Vox (trapezoid shapes on steel frame racks). Those were the daze!

BIll, DUDE!... my first amp was a Kustom 100 head, metal flake yellow tuck and roll with a matching 2x15 cab. I later added a 100 watt Marshall guitar head ran through a Green custom cab. AH,... the days of settling for what you could afford. That rig sounded and looked like CRAP. My brother had a VOX (4x12 I believe) cab that we used sometimes.
I ran that Kustom/ Marsahll rig up until around 77/78 when I bought my first new amp, a Peavey 400 head through a Peavey 2x15 cab. I played that peavey rig about 15 years, It got fried by a lightning strike one night in Muentser TX, at a club called The Ranch House. Thats when I went with the Hartke cabs and GK preamp through a Crown amp.

Orange is still a functioning company. They don't make the old OD guitar series any more (they've replaced them with more modern amps), but they still make the AD200 bass amps.

I have an Orange 200 AD with two Orange OBC 4X10 cabinets. The amp sounds fantastic, it's powerful, clean, slient when running and a nice warm sound, I couldn't want any more. I have played if with the orange 4x10 and SWR 4X10' and the SWR 4X10's are slightly better, better high end but it not that much of a difference to brake up a matching set so I went all Orange. Oh yea- orage fender jazz bass also. I'm a vintage bass guitar and bass colector. It isn't very often you can buy a classic, a amp that will be rare and very cool in the future. With everything Orange you pay top dollar for everything (even Orange T shirts) but it will be a rare item in the future and sought after. Hey I like to stand out on stage - you can't miss the orange and it's sounds perfect. Oh yea, I also use my 84 Alembic John Entwhisle bass through the Orange.
