I recently completed, and just yesterday jammed with my newest instrument. It was started by Wishbass, but I ordered it with no finish, minimal routing, and no electronics. I found great joy in filing, sanding, routing, drilling, finishing, soldering, and finally playing this little sex bomb. Unfortunately my camera will simply not capture the true color of the purpleheart top. Instruments are FUN. Playing music is FUN. some pics.

Nice wood choices James. Looks like your bass turned out pretty good. Wish lives in the next town over. He made this one for me. I'm not much of an upright player and the neck is a little too thick, so for now it's just a decoration. One of these days, I'd like to shave down the neck, fix the tailpiece, and start playing it. The sound is actually not too bad for a thin body acoustic.

Coolio. What's it sound like?

It has a very bright, pinging, hi-fi tone. I have another Wishbass with the same pickup, EMG 35P, that has a much darker, woodier tone. It's a very clear demonstration of the difference that wood makes. Same maker, same pickup, very different tones. This new one has maple and purpleheart laminates in the neck and the same for the body sandwich. The darker sounding bass has maple, mahogany and walnut in the neck, and I don't know what the body is. Something light colored, probably some local tree from a neighbor of Wish's

One of these days, I'd like to shave down the neck, fix the tailpiece, and start playing it.

There's no time like the present. My goodness, put that thing in a stroller, and you'd have one powerful chick magnet.
