I was looking at today's custom and although I'm not a fan of that body shape, that bass looks amazing. I know if I was fortunate to own it It would be a keeper for sure.

I'm sure every now and then, you get an instrument that seems to stand out somewhat above the others. At those time I wonder if when you guys have put all that time and effort into an instrument like that, you ever feel an attachment to it and almost don't want to hand it over to the customer?

But of course you will...

Also do you have a private gallery in the workshop for pictures of the favourites you've made over the years?

Also wanted to say that bass is a fantastic looking instrument and if it sounds as good as it looks it's a sure winner.

I would guess that many of these wonderful pieces seem mundane after a while, since everything they build is top-shelf and beyond.  Most craftsmen I am aquainted with are continually looking to the *next* instrument as the perfect execution of their craft, and see each thing they've already built as another learning experience...

I'm curious what sort of instruments get built after-hours, like some of those Valentino posted a couple of years back.  Comparing the concept of custom you get by sharing information with your builder with the concept of custom you get when you ARE the builder makes me think that there is some very, very creative and innovative work going on that we might never see..
