Mesa/Boogie PowerHouse 1200 cab?

anyone played through one of these? What head did you use? How was it?

I use a Powerhouse 1000, which I think is just the earlier version.  It definately has a modern voicing, to my ears much different than the SVT cabs.  Mine has definately been sturdy, no worries about its build quality.  I don't usually use a head with that particular cab. I am running a large rack system through that cab.

Very good results with an Ampeg SVT III Pro and even better results with Mesa Bass 400 head :-)
 
The newer version has a custom EV/Mesa 600 watt 15 inch speaker, the old ones came with a EVM15L 400 watt speaker (hence the 1000/1200)
 
Best cab I've ever played, period. (though the Mesa 2x10 + 1x15 comes close)

Had one for a while with a big block 750 head.Stack in a box. Works very well.On a technical side, the fifteen's reverse eddy effect naturally affects the tens and make them a tad sloppy. The fifteen on the other hand can't quite match the speed of the tens causing some sag in the sound. The note's over with and the fifteen is still working on it. It's not a bad thing and it's not a good thing. It is simply a choice for your ears to live with or not. It's a different beast that is available as a choice for discerning ears. Thanks Boogie for giving us that choice. Very well designed and built. Will throw out enough volume to keep up with aggressive drummers. Yes it's heavy. Like multiple drivers in one cab look at Dr.Bass cabs if you don't see it he can build it.Or at thrice the cost Accugroove to end up in the same place. Accugroove nose dives on the resale so check ebay for better pricing. Dr.Bass hold their value cause they don't have far to fall. Boogie gets adecent resale price as well. Hope this helps

I think the p1000 is a fantastic cabinet. I use mine with a GK 1001rb-II head. In combination with my Epic, I think the sound is heavy, powerful, and pretty clear; though what bkbass said about the slight sloppiness and sag is true. I used the sound to my advantage, playing in real aggressive bands and matching Mesa Dual and Triple Rectifiers pound for pound, so to speak.  
 
I bought mine about 13 years ago, however, and I know or at least have heard that they've changed many things (speakers, design) about the Powerhouse cabs since then. I don't know what they sound like anymore. And they *are* heavy, as in weight. But, if you're interested in playing through one, I'd take your amp head and bass to the store and see if you test it that way. That's what I did, so that I knew what I was getting into.
