It saddens me greatly to have to report that John Weldon JJ Cale, 74, died of a heart attack on July 26.  A truly stupendous and tragically overlooked singer, songwriter, and guitarist. It makes me weep that every time a cover band goes into Cocaine, the world thinks Yeah - Clapton!

It is After Midnight for Mr. Cale.  As you said, Peter, curiously unknown considering his immense talent and great songs.

Here's a cool video that I think kinda catches the essence of JJ Cale.  Travelling Light.

How could the Four Winds not, Bill? He is, after all, The Breeze!

The Travelling Light video captures why he's so overlooked; he comes across so nonchalant, which is probably the best way to play the song, but the worst way to promote it...sorry to lose such a damn great songwriter...Tony

He might not have had the mainstream success that he deserved, but just about every musician I've met since the mid 70s knew exactly who he was.

Here's a sweet one that I enjoyed playing with Great American Taxi.

RIP, JJ.
