I'm pretty sure the Gary Moore's Greeny (ex Peter Green) Les Paul sold for way more than that.
It was for sale for $2 million and apparently sold to Kirk Hammett. (Metallica)

Dylan's isn't even close to the most expensive.  A Strat signed by  Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend, Mark Knopfler, Ray Davis, Liam Gallagher, Ronnie Wood, Tony Iommi, Angus and Malcolm Young, Paul McCartney, Sting, Ritchie Blackmore, Def Leppard and Bryan Adams, called the Reach Out To Asia Strat sold at a charity auction in Qatar in 2005 for 2.7 million.

And, if we're not counting auctions, Hendrix's '68 Strat was purchased for display in the Experience Music Project museum on Seattle for $2 mil.

Could you imagine what Neil Young's 'old black' would go for?...that guitar would have a million songs in it, and be beat to hell; mojo for decades! Tony
