Any views on Peavey Classic 810TX cabs?
« on: July 07, 2015, 04:41:21 AM »
There are a few on sale at a local auction this week and If they are looking like staying low in price I'm considering getting a couple for a rehearsal room I'm thinking of setting up.

Anyone got any experience with them.

With the Kevlar impregnated speakers they should be bullet proof.

Big bands with endorsements always make me a little skeptical (would they REALLY use this if they had to pay for it?), but another English bass guy uses them around the world on tour:  Duran's John Taylor.  Hartley rarely cuts corners on the gear for real players.  I don't expect them to put BagEnd or Acme out of business, but if they're pretty reasonable, you could do worse.

Thanks guys, I missed out on buying them from a Peavey distribution warehouse, clearance auction. One of my mates got one for the music college he works for. We do some gigs there a couple of times a year so I will get to try it out.

Actually funny how things work out. There was a lot of gear ( as in warehouses full of gear) that did not sell and/or was not collected and so another auction was run.

And after bidding on both to make sure I got one.....I've ended up with both 800w 4ohm two of the cabs. I plan to sell one of the cabs asap and keep one for the aforementioned rehearsal facility, but i'd love to try them both out with my bass rack in both standard and a bi-amp setup just to see what standing in front of a large bass rig sounds like. Unfortunately I don't have the space at home or transport to move them to a rehearsal room to try out yet but I'm hoping I can organise that before one is sold.
