Wanted - Mutron III (Musitronics not Haz)
« on: June 06, 2005, 08:36:29 AM »
I'm looking for an original Musitronics Mu-Tron III. If anyone's doing any Spring cleaning and finds one of these in a closet or box and wants to sell it, please let me know.

Thanks =)

Tom,
     Good luck on your search. I tried to find one of these for about 3 months last year and couldn't even find a broken one! I ended up with an Electro-Harmonix Q-tron+, which is actually made by Mike Biegel, designer of the Mutron. You are probably familiar with the Qtron, but if not, try one out. I have been really happy with mine. I use it with my Tribute.

Ihave had this Mu-tron III since the early 80's. She works great, but she's not for sale.Here is a pic.  Sorry to tease you.

I'd love one as well! I ended up with the mini-Q Tron - absolutely love it - the envelope sound is so much fun!

I'll probably pick up a Q-Tron while I keep up the search for the Mutron III. They pop up on ebay from time to time but seem to go for $450 - $550, often without the power supply. I just missed, by a few days, a practically new one in a vintage guitar shop here in town.

The search goes on. =)

Well - I snagged one - and it is in very good shape. No power supply though. So now it's off to Lingenberg Sound for a calibration, true bypass mod, and a power supply. It should return factory fresh. =D

I also have the Qtron+ which I use on my bass..>It sounds good, but I personally find it to have too many choices for settings.....I like things a little simpler than that.
