I'm once again offering-up my LS Series I for another Series I. Unfortunately, I just don't have the reach for LS Standard Point body style. I'd like to trade it for anything in a different body style (preferably Short scale but a Medium or Long scale with a longer upper horn would probably work as well).

As you can see, it's a beautiful bass (recently refinished) and it has the best/fastest neck of any instrument I've ever played. If I were only 6'2...

I currently have a possible deal in the works. If that falls through and I decide to sell it, I would want $4,000 for the bass plus whatever it cost to ship it (the Anvil case makes it a safe but expensive shipping proposition - it cost me about $300 in shipping when I bought it).

I have real mixed emotions about parting with this bass. But I've finally come to the conclusion that it's just impossible for me to comfortably play it unless I'm sitting down.

Hell Mike, I'm 6'2 and first position playing is a pain in the A$$ for me. It's a big reason why I sold my S2 (which I was going to sell anyway to help fund a custom-but that's in the $-hitte-r).
I don't know if you'll like a medium or short scale as (IMHO) there is a lack of punch on the E string. The fundamental is there but it is a matter of physics and a 34 scale bass IS punchier on the E string.

I love my long-scale Series I to death, but just can't play it out much because of the length and a bit of neck-diving. My new 77 short scale is much lighter and shorter ... even more neck-divey, but I'll work around it for her looks and tone. The E string punches like George Foreman, but a lot of that is the graphite neck.

Hey Rory!!! Where ya been???

I bought this bass from Rory a couple of years ago. Like I said: I'm torn about letting the bass go, but I've tried every trick I know to make it more playable for me. It's not a design flaw... it just is what it is and I don't have the reach to play it. I'm really not interested in an outright sale, because I really want to keep a Series instrument in the stable (I can use it in the studio if nothing else). My other deal fell through, so if anyone is interested in a trade...let me know. For the RIGHT deal (ie SII short scale), I MIGHT be willing to part with both the SI and an Orion 4 string.

My main fretted bass these days is my SC, so I'm aware of the neck-dive issues with that body style. It's short and light enough that I AM able to make the necessary adjustments to play it for prolonged periods. I understand what Adam is saying about punch, but because of my playing style (and EQ)I get more punch than you would expect in a neck-through instrument.

Mike, I am still slinking around. Did not like the direction the club was taking at the time so I watched from a distance. I still appreciate and think highly of most of the members though. Anyway, good luck with whatever you do with the Alembic.
