Here's a ridiculous one for you, guys:

CT makes great basses, but I think the price on this one is a bit steep...

Well, I'm sure $20K is a great price for a $10M bass, but for something costing that money I think I'd want a hardshell case, so I guess I'll pass.

i'm pretty surprised this bass is for sale. carl's been using it as THE example of his best basses for years. the name is obviously a joke, but the price is definitely a bit high. i've always wanted a ct, but the right opportunity just hasn't presented itself.

Austin, I think the one @ Talkbass might be closer to your price, eh?

Let's face it, $20,000 is out of most people's price range- and if we have that kind of cash, I'd think most of us here would opt for either a Series I or II build, eh?

Am I right, or am I right?
$2400 is a lot more like it- in fact, I think that's the cheapest CT I've ever seen.  They're always super, super high.

Peace;)

yeah the talkbass one is definitely reasonably priced, but i'm not really into it. these days when you order a bass from Carl, you get either a no frills bass or the works. that's definitely one of the newer no frills basses. if i'm gonna get a ct (which i have wanted for as long as i can remember), i'm going all out. honestly, if the one on ebay were fretted, i'd consider it. but  i'll probably just end up ordering one in a few years.

Yeah, Austin,

I feel you.  I know exactly what you mean.  Still, that one on talkbass isn't bad.  A CT is a CT, right?

But why settle?  I settled several times with 6's that were non-series, and I was never completely happy.  When I had the chance to get the monster I have, now, I leapt at the chance, and I'm very happy I did.  It took some doing to make that dream a reality, believe me!

Good luck with that- I've always wanted a CT, myself, and time is definitely running out.  CT is up there in years, but doing well- Barry from the Club knows him and said he does a jazz/jam in Brooklyn every Sunday afternoon, so it's good to know he's not sitting around, but keeping busy.

Hopefully someday I'll be able to pick up a CT, too- I think I'd be fairly happy with one of the more basic models because I already have the SII, so I wouldn't be adamant about having the works.  Of course, I've been known to change my mind, before, so I can't say what would happen, if that situation were to ever arise...

Good luck in your quest!

Peace;)

Cool!  Congrats!  Love the extra frets and the Bloodwood fingerboard.
