Don't know much about these... just happened to see it on my rounds thru th'bay... it'd be more interesting if I had a Fender-ish bass.

It probably was attached to a Fender-ish body, I've seen a few around.

I've got a Fender-ish fretless BassStar ,the neck feels real nice and looks pretty cool too.

I put a Modulus neck on a custom speced Warmoth body with Alembic guts. I love it and have been playing this guitar more than any other for the past 6 months. As they say on Long Island: "Great Neck" Bill, tgo

Very cool elwood... at first glance it kinda' reminded me of the graphite neck on this unusual Alembic bass:

...but as noted by Dave Houck, ^that one^ has 23 frets rather than 21 these two have. I guess 21 frets makes more sense if you're modding a Fender-type bass. The one for sale/auction is #118, so just curiosity's sake... anybody know how many of these are out there?

I have heard Bill's Modulus neck on a custom speced Warmoth body with Alembic guts . I can say that it is even more striking in person, both visually and sonically. A nice clean axe ! He sounds great with it .

That in the link though might require some attention to its frets, they look pretty used.

I am in agreement with Enzo regarding the frets . Nobody bought it. It started @ $999 .00 and has been re-listed a few times at lower amounts . Perhaps it will be even lower if there is a next time .

I have a Bassstar that I just love and play all the time. It's a neck thru, as opposed to bolt-on like the one for sale, but otherwise identical. It's a great neck, width close to a J bass, thickness closer to a P. Feels and sounds spectacular. A grand is probably too steep for almost any neck, but I think whoever buys it will enjoy it. (I have no relation to the seller)

Is it difficult to refret a graphite neck???

Harry, I don't have first hand informations on how hard is, but by reading here and there I learned that it requires more attention. Now usually, graphite necks come with a phenolic fretboard which is stiffer than wood and more indicated to be happily 'married' with the graphite. There were cases where the wooden fretboards, very rarely used, decided to 'divorce' (just to stay in theme) due to normal temperature/humidity changes.
In the case of this one in the link there is a wooden fretboard, so I assume it would be like a refret on a any other fretboard, unless I'm missing something.
