So, a scant few days ago, you selected this wood:

And it's now been churned into something that is almost looking like your bass!  The neck:

The lower body half getting it's pickup mounting block, well, mounted:

  The upper body half front:

  The upper body half back:

  Side view:

All in all, I'd say it's a great start!

Just wondered Mica are the slightly older pickup style still avaliable or are the gold writing style the only ones manufactured these days?

daveski

Will Gunn has informed me that both pickup styles are avaliable(with and without gold lettering).Do you think there is any chance of a photo of the two different types next to the body so i can compere.

   many thanks Dave

Mica,a set of my prefered string choice is now winging it's way across the Atlantic to you.

In carving:

In a few days, I'll post a picture of your bass with sealer coats on it, then the long wait. It takes 4-6 weeks in finish for something else interesting to happen, so I'm just preparing you for this in advance.

I'll let you know when I receive the strings.

Thank you Mica, great picture.Don't worry about the time i'm a very patient person.

    cheers Dave

Hi Mica, I've made up my mind on the pickups and after much studying of bass pictures on this site,i would if possible like the older style without the gold lettering and also the older style top hat knobs(which i think are already on my work order).
Many thanks Dave

Hi Mica, just wanted to check with you that the position for the led switch is between the jack and the tail piece. As per the same position on my MK standard,as i do like it there but noticed on some models it seems to be in a different place.

Brace yourself, there's sealer in place:

Stunning!  Now it's time for the very long wait while all the layers of finish are sprayed. It's tough because from the snapshots, it looks almost done, but there's a long way to go.

mica

OK. We'll cast the pickups in the silicone molds instead of the harder ABS plastic shells. There is no decoration on the pickups, just smooth polyurethane.
