That piece of maple (I think) wasn't an optical illusion to which I think JZ will attest. When I visited the mothership a few years ago Mica showed me a piece and it's got indentations not only all over the surface but straight on through its core.  don;t know what causes the figuring though it's awfully beautiful on a guitar.

I think it would be cool to do a headstock from that piece of quilted maple, but have some of the rough edge show through.

This is going to be an awesome guitar.

But clearly you'd want the Royal Purple mouse hide to be sourced from mice caught by the Queen's cat at Buckingham Palace right!
