The rumblings have started. Perhaps later half of June? Stay tuned for more.
Bill, tgo
-
Preferably June 27-28 for me. Definitely NOT 20-21 - I'll be working my butt off that weekend. And I really want to go because I want to bring my Stanley Clarke 5-string. Plus, now I live like 5-10 minutes away from the site!
-
Sorry, man, those rumblings were mine. I'll turn the volume down.
I'm probably in. Finalize a date so I can put it on my calendar.
-
I confess that I rumbled as well
-
Put me down for the 5th annual Bill. Big birthday requires a big trip I think;-)
Graeme
-
I think I'm OK for the 27th-28th as well. We'll be doing the Relay for Life on the 20th.
Ken (TEO)
-
Can I rumble too? I've never been before, but sure would like to attend.
-
I spoke to my friend Will (whose family owns the ranch in Canyon where we've previously held the gatherings) and it looks like we are a go for Saturday, June 27th, for the 3rd annual Northern California Alembic Gathering. Mark the date on your calendars.
Bill, tgo
-
Sorry Bill, I'm not going to make it. Wedding anniversaries are sacrosanct; or so I've been told a couple of dozen times ;-)
Graeme
-
Graeme:
Bring her along. Several people have shown up with Senior Management in tow. All are welcome - the more the merrier! I'm sure traveling halfway across the world to hang out with a bunch of wood and electronics junkies is her dream idea of an anniversary celebration! (Written by a man whose own wife will be sitting at home, 5 minutes away. lol)

How many people are coming to this West Coast shindig?
-
I'm in for this one, unless a big old lucrative gig materializes.
-
Yay Kent! Maybe we should carpool?
-
Sounds like a plan to me! Will the next generation of Alembic be attending also?
-
Jonathan:
I'm not sure of the exact number, but I'd estimate we have had at least 20 each year. Thinking of venturing across the Rockies?
Bill, tgo
-
Bill,
I'm trying to make some schedule switches. Problem is that my group is small and most people's summer plans are pretty well cemented by now. We'll see...
-
If my Alembic Elan is ready in time for the meet I would like to come. I live in Mountain View but am not a 100% sure yet I will be available that day in June...
-
This should be fun ! I am definitely interested in attending.

I am currently in the process of trying to get a flight case made for Big Stubby and switching one of my calls. If I can get it done, we'll be there.
-
I'd love to go but I have to play in Encinitas (San Diego county) on 6/26 until late....
-
Hmmm...this might work...
Got room for another bass or two?
-
Oh, that would be so COOL!!!
There's ALWAYS room for more basses!
(...and I don't think Bill the organizer would mind either)
-
We're at less than three weeks and counting! So let's start getting a head count. And maybe we should also organize who can bring equipment, so we have enough rigs, but not more than necessary. There will be a pretty extensive P.A. and a sound man present. Guitar-wise, I can supply two or three rigs: perhaps a Fender and/or a Boogie along with my new Pritchard. Any guitar people have any special preferences?
Bill, tgo
-
Bill,
I'll take whatever amp you've got to offer. I'm going to try and bring along a few pedals or maybe the POD XT Live.
-
Bill, if you alow him, my brother will bring at least 1 vintage Marshall, and I'll have the Sears Tower...er...SVT. Looking forward to this. Dr. Levine, will you be bringing any of your guitars?
That will be 4 (including me) from my band. The Senior manager and kids won't be coming due to other commitments.
Ken (TEO)
-
Ken,
I'll be bringing Big Stubby. Can't wait to meet you guys.
Later...

No chance of me making this one.... but after listening to Mike's recording of the Chicago one - I really wish I could make it.
The Chicago Gathering certainly had high and low points musically- but pound for pound it was a super blast getting together with so many NICE people - it was a treat.
I could have jammed for days with all of the cool Alembicians in attendance.
I am sure the West Coast will soon be rumbling like a slipping fault line . . . everyone have fun!
Someone pound a low D for me! :-D
-
Just booked the flight!
California, here I come...
-
Woooohoooo! The doctor will be in the house!
Bill, tgo
-
Sweeeeet! Enjoy the rumbling!
-
I'm in! Somehow I've managed to keep that day free - no easy feat!
I was planning on bringing my usual amp setup (Glockenklang Soul Head, Epifani 2X10 & SF-2).
I am so looking forward to this! Thanks Bill!
-
O.K. folks, T minus eleven days and counting and we need to get a head count. If everyone who is planning to attend would kindly email Mica it would be greatly appreciated. In addition, all who give Mica the heads up will get access to the super double secret page about this event! Suitable for printing out and wrapping fish!!!! Be the first one on your block! Don't let this opportunity slip through your fingers! You only live once (or more)! Hi ho Silver, away!!!!

Bill I have some Plans , but I am trying to see if I can switch some things around, but I will not know if I can make it for sure until the 22 which is on a monday (my manager comes back from Europe that day) and I have some work to do 25th thru 29th unless I can get him to switch things around, which I hope he can because I really want to come to this one. Anyway I will keep you posted Peace brother John alias the Raven..hmmm might have to make this my new user name lol!
-
Hey, Gang! I just mailed in my next to last payment to the dealer I've been working with and should make my final payment next week so I can take delivery of my Alembic from the factory. I'd like to bring her and meet/jam with you!
-Sam (Sam's custom 5-string bass in the FTC thread)
-
Beautiful bass Sam!
-
Thanks, Dave. I've tried to be cool during most of her gestation but seeing these latest pics has gotten me really excited and anxious. I'm not taking my pending ownership lightly and I'm deeply humbled by the master work and artistry of Mica and the rest of the crew. Between delivery and next Saturday I'm going to have to practice like a maniac to become acclimated to her so I don't completely embarrass myself in front of you guys!
-
Don't worry about embarassing yourself. If I can do it, anyone can! Look forward to meeting both of you.
Later...

Sorry brother Bill and others, I won't be able to make this one, I have got to produce a session for an inspiring young lady with a great voice from Vancouver. Play some Dead tunes for me while I stay out of this heat in a Shade of Gray..Peace John
-
Sorry we won't see you this time, John. If there's anyone interested in coming to the Northern California Gathering that hasn't received an email from me already, send me an email so I can keep you updated.
-
Just a few more days now! Other than Dr. Jon, are there any other guitar players planning to attend? Do you need me to bring an amp for you?
John: Sorry you can't make it. I think we may be able to rustle up a Dead tune or two for you, though. lol
Bill, tgo
-
I can't wait!
Flight case...check.
Insurance...check.
Hotel...check.
See you guys soon.
Bill, any chance of my bumming a ride from the Four Points in Emeryville? I'll be the one standing on the corner looking like a lost roadie.
Later,
Jonathan
-
Jonathan:
No problemo. Email sent.
Bill, tgo

While you're at it Bill can you pick me up at the airport Friday night? I'll be arriving at DFW about 7 pm? ;)

Looking forward to tomorrow! I'm bringing a Tribute Stage model with me, plus a couple of other goodies.
-
Real life has intervened and decreed that I spend my day in my shop amidst the large pile of broken gear that's flooded in this week. With y'all in spirit, for whatever that's worth...
-
By now the gathering has already begun--hope everyone has good fun and fellowship. This will be the first Northern California gathering I have not attended, but medical emergencies on both sides of my family mean I have to stick very close to home. Wish I could be there--
Eric
-
Wolf and Eric; I hope the best for your families.
-
Thank you Dave. I will have to turn down a last minute 4th of July gig that just was offered as well that would require a stay out of town. Thanks for the kind thoughts.
-
Well wishes to Wolf and Eric~
This thread is seriously lacking in post gathering photos and recaps. The party must have gone long into the night....
-
I started a new thread for photos, stories, etc.:
Northern California Gathering III - report (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=9839)
I didn't get to meet some people that I was looking forward to meeting for the first time - Wolf and John Judge - and some friends from previous gatherings, like Alemberic, were unable to attend. I hope you guys are well! We still had a good time - finally dragged home about 7 PM - I need a lighter case for the doubleneck...
-
I'm very extremely sad that I didn't make it this year.
Next year for sure.
-
Dave and Toby--thanks so much for your kind wishes--I appreciate them very much.
Long live Alembic!!
Eric
