I've been using a different music hosting site recently, called SoundCloud (http://soundcloud.com target=_blank). It's easy to use and free! (though you can pay money for more advanced features) Here's my page: http://soundcloud.com/hieronymous-seven (http://soundcloud.com/hieronymous-seven target=_blank)
I've got a few Alembic things up, including my fuzzed-out Stanley Clarke (King Cat Jam (http://soundcloud.com/hieronymous-seven/king-cat-jam target=_blank)), my Series I doubleneck (triple doubleneck (http://soundcloud.com/hieronymous-seven/triple-doubleneck target=_blank)), and my Telembic (Activator-equipped Telecaster Bass) (Ostronato (http://soundcloud.com/hieronymous-seven/ostronato target=_blank) and 8B4X4 (http://soundcloud.com/hieronymous-seven/8b4x4 target=_blank)). Some of these are new, some you've heard before.
Anyone else using SoundCloud? If so, we can start an Alembic group!
-
Thanks for the idea !
Its work well and easy:

Wow - your bass sounds amazing Pierre-Yves! (Nice playing too!) Don't forget to follow me! ;)
-
Amazing Pierre-Yves! Given the cheap computer speakers I was listening on at work I really can't say much about the sound, but the musicianship was wonderful.
-
Thanks Harry!
I have been waiting for something like this.
I have posted 4 recordings.

Harry,_____ I really like SoundCloud . I enjoyed Listening to your recordings and musical concepts.I can relate ! As we have spoken about previously , it would be fun to do some musical experimentation and collaboration at some point since we are both local cats .
Pierre___ Your Bass sounds Awesome , and your hands compliment it's exemplary quality !
Slawie____ Thanks so very much for the recognition: I am pleased that you find my gear interests useful . Your tunes really sound great !
-
Slawie,_________ Happy Birthday !
-
I'm there also! Following Harry, Slawie, Pierre and HB3
Pauldo (http://soundcloud.com/pdrapeau target=_blank)
The Sorcerer is completely made up, on the fly by Sun Machine. The other songs are from other fun bands that I have been in.
How can I re-arrange the track listing?
-
Fine rock tunes Pauldo. Am I the only one to play jazz, jazz rock here ?
-
Pierre - Tartuga has a jazzy feel to it. We also have a Sun Machine medley where I tip my hat to Stan with a little bit of School Days - I will get it posted in the next couple of days for you to listen to.

I happened up soundcloud a few days before this thread popped up, ...love the serendippity : )
My profile is here (http://soundcloud.com/equortion%20 target=_blank).
-
OK - I started a group: Alembic Players (http://soundcloud.com/groups/alembic-players target=_blank)!
If you want to add a track, select your own track, then click on share to group (after you join the group of course) - I added triple doubleneck - firsties!
-
Pierre - I just posted Medley #9, it covers everything from Black Sabbath to Stanley to Pink Floyd to Lynyrd Skynyrd and even has a snippet of My Sharona in it! :-D
This was recorded live in the guitarist basement with just a couple of mics.
ENJOY!
-
WOW that was great Pauldo! I thought it was going to slip into Becks Bolero toward the end there.. I like how the graphic of the sound waves makes a little bat shape at the end of Batman too
-
Thanks Kenn -
Harry, thank you for starting the group. I added Sweet Life to the Alembic Players group - it is a really fun song to play!
(Message edited by pauldo on July 31, 2011)

Another neat feature is that you can add timed comments to songs - other people's or your own. Just click on the blue bar at the bottom of the player for that song and you can add a comment!
-
Paul, please say to your guitarist to go take a beer, I will listen to YOU... the guitar is too loud my god ;o)) Black Sabbath, I was 15 years old ?
Harry thanks for your initiative
-
PS: my name is Pierre-Yves...
-
pierreyves....well we know who your influence is!!
-
Pierre-Yves it was not a secret, I follow Stanley from 1975
-
Just joined. Great site. Thanks Harry.
-
Pierre-Yves, a thousand pardons on the name snafu.
You have a great Stanley sound!
-
Just posted something. Please keep in mind that I am new to bass playing. I had a great time putting this together with my MK5 and my daughter's JamMan looper. I got the idea this past weekend watching our Enlgish Bulldog, Ruby eating peanut butter while I was practicing arpeggios. I am amazed at what can be done on this bass. http://soundcloud.com/billostech/peanut-butter (http://soundcloud.com/billostech/peanut-butter)
-
Great sound Pierre-Yves and Harry. I have been listening to your tracks all this morning. A true inspiration to a newbe like myslef.
Slawie,
I think it was your thread that motivated me to get the JamMan Stereo ... +1 on your comments regarding Sonicus and Kimberly.
-
@billoo : Congratulations, it's something causing, and thanks to your positive comments.
The dream: an international Alembician meeting with some great Alembician players as.... oups...
-
http://soundcloud.com/pierre-yves-v/lopsy-lu-02-2011
= Lopsy Lu !!
-
Bill, what happened to Peanut Butter?!! I enjoyed it! Looking forward to something new...
Pierre-Yves - Lopsy Lu sounds great! I was just thinking of this song today - a volunteer in my office is name Lou although she is a woman (this spelling is usually for men's names) - got me thinking about the song and then you posted it! Waiting for it to appear in the Alembic Players group...
-
and now the Koa bass sounds:
http://soundcloud.com/batracien/some-sounds-of-m-serie-ii-koa (http://soundcloud.com/batracien/some-sounds-of-m-serie-ii-koa)
enjoy !
-
Pierre-Yves - sounds amazing (as usual)!!! Care to enlighten us regarding the name change?
I put up another track in the Alembic Players group (http://soundcloud.com/groups/alembic-players target=_blank) too (my Stanley Clarke played with a pick through F-2B & SF-2). I hope other people contribute too! This could turn into a nice Library of Alembic Sounds!
-
the name change, its a mistake and I dont know how to resolve it. I have 2 name I think: pierre-yves v., blackwood Bass... batracien too ? It the same
Fine, fine your tune... its grooving !
Maybe we could write to Mica, Susan etc, and they put this Alembic players group in their web site as sound example... AND, any work deserves payment, they could give us a large percentage on future orders!
Mica ?? Susan ??
-
Pierre-Yves, I enjoyed Lopsy Lu. The Tenor Bass is awesome. Your Playing too.
-
Thanks Harry. I posted a new version of Peanut Butter. http://soundcloud.com/billostech/peanut-butter2 (http://soundcloud.com/billostech/peanut-butter2)
I am trying to figure out how to record a drum track and loop over it, instead of playing over the Jamnan's rythym track which is not recorded.
-
Thanks for compliments ! Billo, go and work your bass, your peanuts butter (I dont like to eat this ) is nice, I like your arpeggio... go and never stop to work your instrument.
-
Nicely done Harry. I enjoyed all of your tracks.
I got an idea. Let's create a tune as a group. After one track is laid, another member can lay down another. I don't know how this can be managed, but it seems it can lead to an awesome experience.
-
Bill - I like that idea! I took part in something similar when I used to be on TalkBass.com more - they called it the spittoon - it was fun but kind of a pain to pull off. Maybe it's time to try it again! One way to do it is to build a complete track from the bottom up - another way is the spittoon approach - each person records 4-8 bars - you just keep adding to it, the parts can be related or completely unrelated.
Activity on the Alembic soundcloud group has slowed down - in the meantime, I've posted a new track in my own account, not Alembic but check it out anyway!
-
I will check it out this evening after work.
-
Hi !!
two news !!!
http://soundcloud.com/batracien (http://soundcloud.com/batracien)
-
Pierre-Yves - I really like the Neckpickupjam.
Great sound and playing.
What is your recording setup?
Any signal processing?
-
thanks, it's just a solo of Stan with Hiromi at San Sebastian 2 years ago.
I use A Zoom MP3 recorder http://www.thomann.de/fr/zoom_h4_n.htm (http://www.thomann.de/fr/zoom_h4_n.htm) direct from the direct output post trough a lexicon mx 200 processor.
-
Hey everybody, we haven't had much activity over at the Alembic players soundcloud group (http://soundcloud.com/groups/alembic-players/tracks target=_blank), so I added my track King Cat Jam (http://soundcloud.com/hieronymous-seven/king-cat-jam target=_blank)!
Unfortunately, soundcloud has been having server issues the past couple of days, so if you have trouble loading the pages, wait a while and try again!
-
Hi Hiero 7 how are you ? I'm waiting for my fixing troubleshooting to get something else... but we are not alone on the club with Alembic potential sounds..no?
I have submit a fool idea but no answer from Alembic... maybe our sounds are not so appreciate by the mothership ? I think its a good idea do do this with amateur only....
-
You guys are all so great.
-
I love King Cat Jam. Nice work Harry.
-
Pierre-Yves - I'm not sure what your fool idea was, but I'm sure it was a good one - just maybe not something Alembic would want to do officially. Plus, they have the best possible representative for Alembic, even if he isn't an official endorsee - Stanley Clarke!
Bill - thanks for the comment on King Cat Jam - I was thinking that maybe it wasn't good to post in the Alembic Players group because you can't really hear the bass under the effects, but they I realized that it was good to post to show what can be done with an Alembic and effects.
We haven't done the group track yet either - hopefully we can get that going at some point! Personally, I think it would be best to have each person record 4-8 bars, then the next person can tag on something, it can be related or completely unrelated!
-
Great idea Harry. Let's get started.
-
Stanley has his sounds, we have others, sometimes similar but others... Sorry but what mean bars?
-
Pierre-Yves, bars as in a 16 bar blues? Guessing it's mesures in French.
-
ok I understand... a little short for me... ;o)
-
I like Harry's idea also.
Follow or blaze a new direction.
-
