I'm Sam and just bought my first Alembic after about 20 years of lusting. It's a 4 string zebrawood Epic, s/n 94W8181. I have a photo that's not real good. I saved it from the ebay add when I won the auction and haven't had a chance to take any of my own yet. I couldn't be more pleased with this instrument. Even the weight was a pleasant surprise. I bought a 3 strap before the bass arrived thinking it was going to be heavy but it is really very comforable. I've seen a few posts here about supportive wives and must say my wife was behind me on this all the way. When I would get outbid she encouraged me to stay with it. What a woman! By the way I'm in NE Florida. This is a international community so I thought I would narrow it down.

Welcome to Alembic land! Man, did I just say Alembic Land? I guess you can see we love our instruments. That is a nice bass, congratulations. Sam, you're going to get a lot of compliments on your bass, believe them all. I say that because I haven't seen an Alembic that wasn't remarkable. You might be familiar with all of the models but because of all of the choices and options, they all have a uniqueness. We are glad to have you here. Thanks for being apart of this Official Alembic Low End Gathering, better know as the Alembic Club.

Thanks. The compliments have already come in. I feel like the guy in the commercial who tells everyone about his cholesterol except I'm saying I have an Alembic bass!
I sure like your side of the pond, Paul. It's been too long since we've been there. The last time was 2000 St Pat's Day in Dublin.

Welcome aboard Sam!
That is a beatiful Epic. Not only did you buy a wonderful bass, but you also gained a family. So are we having Thanksgiving at your house??? Just kidding ;)
I would bet that Epic sounds reeeeaal good too! As my brother Paul said, more pics! Again, welcome aboard and congrats on such a fine instrument!

Thanks again for the welcome. I agree about the photos. More will be coming. I'm an old guy and just haven't broken down and gotten a digital camera yet. I'm still trying to deal with push buttons on my telephone.

Hey Sam,
Welcome to the club!!!! Great bass you've got there too.
Yep, you gained a family here.
Hey Elzie, I thought Thanksgiving was at your place this year??? Turkey and home brew right???
I know I know, there I go again talking about food. GEEZ!!!!

Hey Fake one and good one!?
When is that thanks-thing-giving party your side of the pond
the bad one

Actually Dino, it IS at my house this year! Anyone that is in the neighborhood, or even a distance away, is welcome to my house for food. And of course, plenty of homebrew. Just name your poison, er, beer; extra stout, red ale.....
Oh, Paul, it is November 27th, I will see you at 2 pm?

Paul, a pint or two of Guinness would be about right.
Bad Paul, I posted some clearer photos in the Showcase folder.

bracheen:
Small world. I lived in Jacksonville from 85 to 90. We may know some of the same pickers.
Incidentally, I don't know if you get to Pensacola very often, but the ALEMBIC dealer there is Tringas Music. My friend Dick Boyden is the tech there and he is just fabulous.
I imagine you're already asking yourself: Why did I wait 20 years? There simply is nothing like an ALEMBIC !

I wonder if my wife would question why I'm running out the door with my Alembic to visit a relative on Thanksgiving Day. Tempting, very tempting!!!!

Well Dino, you could always wait until Friday! There will be plenty of leftovers, and I still have about 14 16 ounce bottles of Red Ale left That goes for you too Jet Powers and anyone else in the area.
It would be a good time to hang out and have a few beers. I would also be curious as to how others would set up my amp to their own liking......

Oooohhh....
16 oz. bottles of ale that there is no Massachusetts sin tax on???? That's real difficult to pass up. I think I like your amp set up right next to the beer cooler......
BTW- Welcome to the club Sam!

All those Paul's ...all those beers ...basses ...Alembics
***sigh***
maybe next year.
Hope things will go better once.
Anyway ...please join in friendship and drink a few on my behalf!

Hey Jet!
My mini fridge is almost next to my amp. I didn't want to get it too close and vibrate all the bottles!
Brother Paul,
Maybe we should print your picture and place a beer in front of it, sort of like a voodoo ritual ;)

I've been in Jacksonville since 1970 but it sounds like Massachusetts is the place to be this month!
