Title: And another Dutch Alembic owner says hello
Post by: reinier on September 27, 2004, 03:22:11 PM
Phew!! Some 2 years after my first non-owner mails, I got lucky: a club member sale coincided with a little money in my account. So since a UPS visit this afternoon I'm the happy owner of my 1st true Alembic as well as the (only?) Jimmy Johnson Signature Dlx 5-str:

Being a huge Flim Johnson since I first heard him play in 1980, owning this particular Alembic is more than a dream come true (the story Flim  actually played her takes the cookie!). Classical hat knobs have been ordered a few minutes ago and as soon as they're on, I'll send some pictures although Mik did a great job back in 2002 already. And rest assured I'll stick up some pics of Flim in the Artists & their Alembics corner. It's a disgrace this long time Alembic player and tasteful 5-str genius does not yet have his own pedestal there! Take care. RR

Reinier, congratulations!

If I recall correctly, it seems to me that we might have actually discussed Flim Johnson pictures at one point and no one could find any.

Hey Reinier.  That is an outrageously nice bass you have adopted.  I am looking forward to your posts on Flim Johnson.  Thanks for sharing.

Reinier, gefeliciteerd, wat een fantastische bas! You must be so proud! Being a Walnut freak (owning a grafted, a flame and a two-tone burl walnut topped Alembic bass myself) I must say that this fine example carries one of the best 'superb' tops I've ever seen.

Take care, enjoy and if you ever have to sell her, she might have to travel only a very short distance... ;-)
