An Alembic was only a dream in the '70's (in high school). When I saw an ad for an affordable stock model in the early '80's I drove 4 hours from Buffalo to the closest music store that I found out from Alembic had a Spoiler, Cleveland. In '86 I was fortunate to pick up a two year old Distillate. I've been playing it ever since.
I've been longing to add a second Alembic, mostly seeing Spoilers. Any suggestions... Persuader?

Hi James; welcome to the board! My suggest would be to take your time and read a lot of the threads on the board; also watch Ebay regularly just to get an idea of the current trading ranges for the different models. There is a lot of good information on the board; lot of folks here are very knowledgeable, and the FAQ and Must Reads sections have info on electronics packages and other useful information.

James, Welcome! Good luck in your search.

Welcome James. My advice is to take your time and try to buy a series I or II. They are expensive but worthed every penny. They have a lot of knobs but it is not very difficult to get a great sound out of a series II no matter what some people say. The electronics are so subtle that they don\t need that much tweaking. Good luck in your search.

I'd love to follow Saviour's advice for me, and get a Serie I or II...
Some day, for sure, it will happen!

Xtof,
I agree, and thanks saviour, I've been keeping my eyes and options open, but 4 or 5 grand is steep.
Maybe Xtof, we could pool our resources and arrange shared joint custody --
