My name is Diederik. I'm a dutch bassplayer and proud owner of an Alembic Spoiler 87. Ever since I stared the inner-sleeve of Stanley Clarke's I wanna play for you with the picture of his entire Alembiccollection of that time I fell in love with these beautifull instruments. It was late seventies then. And the unreachable has become true.

Congratulations Diederik and welcome to the forum.
Your bass is beautiful! Be careful as these instruments are addictive and now you're on the way to your own collection ;)
Play it Healthy!

Hey Didi, welcome here! :-)
Do not worry; Alembics are not addictive at all, I'm wondering where Art got that info from...
:-)
Be sure to take this beauty to the Drachten meeting ;-)

Hoi Diederik, welkom bij de Club!
Flip - that's the first I've heard of a Drachten meeting. Who, what, when, where?

Hello didi,
Another welcome to the club from America. That's a beautiful Spoiler. Do you know what the top wood is? It looks gorgeous. Enjoy your time here and your playing time as well!

Diederik welcome to the club.
That is one sweet looking bass.
I also used to be amazed at the inner cover of I Wanna Play For You. . . it also worked really good for cleaning stems and seeds out of a certain dried herb. :-)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
I guess the top wood is walnut , dadabass2001

Okay didi, you made me dig out my old albums (which wasn't easy!) to find that favorite sleeve picture of all of Stanley's basses laid out on his front porch... his Alembics front and center.
But I didn't remember at all that I had 12 albums of his, must have been the stem and seed cleaning back then Pauldo!
I also found a 1974 album, simply named 'Stanley Clarke', that has him playing an Alembic on the cover.
And here's an '82 sleeve from 'Let Me Know'...

Nice one, James.
Yes, the first album Stanley Clarke is a great album, probably his best, imao.
I tried to find this picture of his collection on the porch but too bad,I sold most of my vinyl a few years ago. If I find it somewhere on the internet I'll post it.
-
James is correct it is the inner sleeve that has the basses. (Pardon the washout from the flash)

This was the inside of the double cover of I Wanna Play For You:

Yeah, that's the family.
Thanks for posting ! Haven't seen these pictures for a long time.

I have an 700mb AVI file of a concert by Clarke in that time 1977. I can upload it if you like and I'm permitted placing a link.
