I just signed up to the board.  I have ordered a Spyder Bass, with a couple of added options.  I have owned a few basses since 1977 but this will be my first Alembic!!  After a period of not playing very often, this year I have found myself playing a couple times a week with various local groups and it has reignited my passion to learn and play.  Since I will be 50 next April, what better way to celebrate this milestone than to mark it with the purchase of an Alembic!!

Welcome to the forum and a very happy half-a-hundred!  I, too, gave myself  an Alembic for my 50th. (http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_woody.html)  Best birthday present ever!  You'll never regret it, other than you may soon find all your other instruments gathering dust!

Welcome Paul I hope you enjoy your birthday present,. Celebrating the half century with an Alembic is a pretty popular sport here. Here is the one I got myself for my 50th birthday.  Well I didn't have it custom made but when I saw it on the Custom Gallery I decided I wanted one just like that for my 50th then last year the owner decided he no longer wanted it so it became my Dragon Magic 50th Birthday present (http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_dragonmagic.html)
 
 
If you have never played an Alembic bass before you are in for one heck of a birthday treat....!!!

Wow thanks for all the welcoming greetings!!  The more I look around the website and this board I realize Alembic and its community is more friendly and personal than I imagined!!  Not to mention, the more I look at the various builds, I realize the quality of the instruments is beyond what I had imagined as well.  I can't wait.  Mica will be starting a FTC thread - I didn't know about the FTC threads until yesterday - what a cool thing that is!
