Title: Greetings from Silver Spring, Maryland
Post by: bassthang on January 08, 2011, 09:40:38 AM
Happy New Year, I live in Silver Spring, but I'm really a misplaced Texan.
I don't have a bass, but I used to own a F-1X (sold it). Now I'm gassing for either a Superfilter or a used brown Stanley (short scale).
Also have an Alembic bridge/tailpiece assembly on my Guild, as well as a bottle of polish [see photo], so I guess that qualifies me for membership!
Cheers, Tommy

Hello and welcome. That's a nice Starfire and Versatone .
I too started my Acquaintance with Alembic in the 1970's  by having my Guild Starfires modified by Alembic.  You can find pics and stories here;

Thanks guys.
Sonicus, I've seen your pics of your bass before. It's very nice, especially the wooden p/u rings.
A little bit of history on mine. It was originally a single p/up model. When I found it at the Guitar Shop in downtown D.C., it had a Bartolini in the bridge position and was wired for stereo/mono output. All the mods were done by Michael Tobias, who used to work there.
Never one to leave things alone, I found a couple of Hagstroms, took out the Bart and replaced it, and re-wired back to stock configuration. It's been that way ever since.
