Hello everyone. I have been reading the great posts here for a while now. I am very recently a first time Alembic owner and new to the club. This truly magnificent instrument arrived at my door Wednesday 01/08/14 from Edwin van Huik's Bass Connection in the Netherlands. It is a 1988 Stanley Clarke Deluxe with rosewood top/back, maple accents, mahogany core body. And maple, purpleheart neck. Pictures do not do it justice. Apart from going to work, I have not been able to put it down. What an amazing bass.  There have been a couple previous threads here about this bass:  http://club.alembic.com/Images/394/36011.html?1171686742 http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/43192.html?1188966730  So I do have some information about it's origins and previous ownership.  Since the last posted images here, both of the original pickups have been replaced. Also, as can be seen in the images, there is a toggle switch with an adjacent LED indicator light above the output jack. The function seems to be strictly an on/off switch. In the down (off) position, there is no output. Up (on) full Alembic sound with all controls functioning properly. The switch/LED have been on the bass as far back as 2007 (previous thread). I have not been able to find this configuration anywhere else. Only a mono/stereo or fret marker LED switch in this location. But never with an adjacent indicator light. I am hoping to get some of your expert input regarding this configuration. Thanks everybody.

Steven -

Welcome to you and your FAB-U-L-OUS instrument.

Like you, I love my Stanley Clarke Sig Deluxe. And, like you, it was my gateway to the Alembic experience.

Hi Steven, the Stanley Clarke Signature deluxe broke my alembic virginity too, and now...... well let's say I've become openly promiscuous in my pursuit of certain alembics. But be careful their sound can be extremely seductive.

Thanks for the welcomes. It's great to be a member of the community. I have already discovered many great tips and insights into the care and feeding of these incredible instruments. I just cleaned, restrung and did a set up. It plays, surprisingly, even better than when it first arrived.
