Title: Little Darling Bass
Post by: wishbass on April 22, 2012, 08:36:28 PM
I'm late to the party on this ,but I just found it.I was curious about any feedback on this body in regard to weight, neck dive/scale length etc.I saw mention that Mica was looking into it in the Dreaming For Now section, and wondered what came of it.I don't know why, but this shape appeals to me MORE than the Balance K for some reason....

That was me that asked in the Dreaming.. section.  I had since talked to Mica and she indicated that it wouldn't be a problem (neck dive) to go with 34 or 35 scale; obviously shorter would be fine.

At some point when I just can't stand it anymore (and the wife lets me...) I'm going to be ordering up a Little Darling bass.  Most likely a 5-string with buckeye burl top. sexeh.

Hey Briant, in the name of full disclosure,I was in several bands between '83 and '87 wearing spandex. We played Queensryche, Iron Maiden( I still love to bust out 22 Acacia Ave to warm up my plucking hand once in a while)Priest, and old Metallica,as well as some sophmorish originals.Ah yesss, the glory days!

I know a place where we can go.......
Steve Harris is probably the reason I never learned to play w/a pick.Fallow that up with a lifelong love of Geddy and The Ox,well....you get the picture.
Wouldn't 22 Acacia Ave sound great on a med scale Darling bass w/Anniversary or Signature elec.s !?!

I wonder if Mica could give us the dimensional measure ments of this body(I think it's actually a Darling, not a little Darling)and how it compares sizewise to an Elan,or Essance etc .........

Interesting you brought that up Karl, I've often wondered if they might be able to line a few basses up side by side and post pictures to get an idea of how the models shape up size wise.  I always take a close look at images where I see multiple instruments side by side to see how the different models compare to each other.

Several times I've seen Essences and been struck by how petite they look.

I agree. You can always get a sense from the gatherings shots,or the few showroom and finishing room shots, but there is so much variation.Especially w/so many 3/4 variations on so many body shapes.
