Neck comparison: the Distillate ( on the right ) is a tiny bit thinner.

enzo, well done and congratulations! another beauty in the bevy. i was surprised how similar the bodies are when i saw the pic of their backsides.
so, kiss and tell us the difference between the two. is one better in bed than the other? tones? weights? body and neck feel? playability?

this is a great bass. I got to play it and help set up the neck at the Chicago gathering and it is a great Distillate with stunning birdseye wood. Congrats Enzo, play it good health.
-
(http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/66212.jpg) I the love Distillate too! Here's my Axe with my bag end arsenal too. I would like to get a 5 string series Distillate in the future
-
These are 2 fine instruments Enzo. They looked even better in person. (Does the wife know about number 2 yet) ;)
OO
Chalie every time I see your rig I wish I stilled played through an amp! WOW!
-
nice pics
-
Hey OO,
Thanks for the kind words. I love your axe! Man, I'd sure love to play your bass! Do you go direct when you are performing?
Yo Enzo... the proud Poppa!
Swwwwweeeetttt!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks Chalie, anytime you're in the Dallas area you're more than welcome to come play it!
Yes Sir, direct and use in ear monitors. This works great but if you ever do use in ear make sure you have good earphones. I have the Shure E-4?s. Not cheap but bass sounds great in them.
Enzo's basses are 2 of the nicest Spoilers and Distillates I've seen. You should try to see them in person. Pix don't do them justice.

Cool! Go EAGLES!
HA HA
-
OOoohhh, may not want to come during football season then!
-
Enzo's Distillate is certainly sweet,,, and yes Olie I agree Chalie's rig is to die for.... now that I had the chance to play through Bag Ends I know what I am missing!
-
Ha! Ha! Olie, I'd be a marked man for sure if I were to venture into your territory fully clad in my EAGLES gear. Although I may get a pass how if I tell everyone that I know you and show them photos of that fantabulous bass of yours!!!
-
Yo Paul!
WAZ-UP Bro? Hope I can meet you at the next gathering (provided I don'thave a gig the night before)and try your axe. I really appreciate your thoughtful words man!
Peace-n-out Cub Scout!!

You guys don't have to wait for an official gathering. Chalie's got enough rig for all 3 of ya! LOL
This is hanging on my wall in my office Chalie. I got it from a resturant we watched the game at.

Thanks everybody for the kind words.
Olie, my wife knows it but she knows also that Alembics are like a riskless investment, the money is guaranteed to come back, sometimes with interest (at least this is what I told her hehe).
Chalie, yours is unmatched in the Club, my absolute favourite Distillate !
Colin, the basses are very similar as far as playability but the Distillate feels a little better to me because it has a slightly thinner neck.
The weight is 9.5 lbs against 9 lbs of the Spoiler. Having the bass/trebble cut/boost of course gives more possibility of sound shaping.
Bodies are same thickness, the Spoiler seems to dive a bit more ( strangely ) maybe because of the thicker neck ? Actions are pretty low with no fretbuzz (thanks again Paul and Ted).
Did I forget anything ? Oh yes, credit card balance coming up soon !

Many humble thanks for your kind praises concerning my Distillate Enzo. But alas,I am not the original owner of the bass so if the 1st owner should see this I would like to thank him for selling it via BassNorthwest! I know he'll be happy to hear that the bass has an excellent home and is in the hands of a man that has been playing since the age of 7 to 52 to date. I do pamper that bass as far as maintenence but I spank the crap out of the axe! That bass is a playaz bass!
-
. . .but I spank the crap out of the axe!
Chalie - I really wish you would have been in Chicago - because then you and Keavin could have had a beat down fest!
Keavin broke out some serious whoop-ass at Bag End. I am still beaming from that whole event - I really had the time of my life.
It needs to be an annual event!
-
I'm in for the next event! That would be great to have it a Bag End too. But you know something? I want to hear what Epiphany's sound like too. Although I love my bag end, I'm the type that likes to hear different speaker cabinets.I hope we can meet at the next gathering provided all of the stars are aligned (sp)

That would be fantastic Paul !
