Title: Epic 6strs are nice too!
Post by: albrecht on August 22, 2005, 07:50:04 AM
I the new owner of this bass! First Alembic for me, and one of the few now in Sweden. It?s a 6str that plays all night long, not heavy at all...perhaps nothing to boast about, seeing all the wonders displayed under this topic :-)! but still A VERY NICE instrument! The EPIC is an Alembic! W/ the F-1X & the SF-2 the possiblities are enormous! I don?t know much about it?s features. Just pluged ?n played - there were no problems with it....NICE!

Great bass Kristjan, congratulations.  I agree about Epics. My 4 string is very satisfying.
Are you playing through a F-1x & SF-2 now?

Hi Kristjan,
Sweet bass, i love the Epic's. You can get a lot more bass if you spend a lot more, but the Epic is great for the money.
Play it in good health.

Thanx for rep?s...you feel kinda lonely - being a Swedish Alembician...Just got the F-1X which is very nice. Lothar at Station-Music in Germany has ordered an SF-2 (and an Epifani UL 4x10 is coming in also...)for me and I can?t wait to have it. Espec. after reading what is said ?bout it on this site...All will probably work nicely with my upright BSX2000 also....and my other (lesser) basses. Eventually I might opt for a (short-scale?) 4str Epic because my hands seem too tiny...haven?t decided yet. I think the Epic (and the Mod I & II?s) are the most beautiful bodyshapes of all Alembics! Go Epic!

Kristjan,
I'm not sure how many short scale Epics are around but first you might try a regular (34) Epic 4-string.  I have 4- and 5-string Epics.  The 5 feels a little wide for my average sized hands.  I can only imagine how wide a 6 would feel.  After getting my 5, the 4 feels nice and compact to me.
If you can't try out an Epic 4, try another brand of 4-string with the same neck dimensions in a 34 scale and see how it feels.  The dimensions can be found in the product section of this website.
BTW, welcome to the club and congrats on getting your Alembic.

thanx - i will see how long it takes for the pain to go away, hahahaha! now i play a mix of basses during a concert, but i would like to play the alembic ALL NIGHT LONG! perhaps it?s time to consider ergonomics - taking care of your body (back ?n arms/wrists/hands...)?

Hi Kristjan.
Welcome to the club and congratulations on your purchase.
I've had my Epic for nearly ten years and I still love it. plays and sounds as good now as when it was new.

hi, epicicians! by now i?ve grown used to working a 6str - in fact it?s very comfortable! missed a nice eBAY 4str but there will more coming i guess...and the SF-2 was a revelation, never thought that an effect could be so useful. it?s the best i ever owned, won?t play a note without it!
