Just pulled her off the Bay. Been after one of these babies forever, watching bass pornonline all night, wishing I had one..
I saw a walnut one on Ebay the other day and was slow on the draw..and missed out.
..but then, a couple of days later, this bubinga beauty popped up!
Got her a nice setup, new battery, and a new set of hibeams.
plugged 'er into the SVT..and just played...
I've always loved the Epic shape, have u ever heard of anyone adjusting string spacing on their Alembic?
It would mean a new nut and bridge, I guess?.. sounds like it may be too expensive a mod to make.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/30489.jpg)

Very pretty, congrats!
I assume you would like the strings closer together, right? (kind of hard to go the other way...) If you don't mind having the strings inset from the edge of the neck a little, then it might not be too bad.
Rather than replace the entire bridge, you could just get four new saddles, and bunch the slots toward the center.
I'm also guessing that's what bothers you most, because on the comfort taper the strings are spread wide at the bridge, but are actually closer at the nut, compared to the classic taper.
If you really wanted closer spacing at the nut, you could also get a new nut blank and cut it as you wish, but I'd be a little surprised if you really wanted to go much tighter there.
If you do tighten up the bridge spacing, you will end up with some angling from the tailpiece to saddles, but this should be very slight, and not likely to bother you unless you're the really compulsive type (hmm, why did that occur me?).
Look at the string angles. A set of bridge saddles, especially if you can cut them yourself, should be a pretty inexpensive way to customize the bass to your liking.

Kevin, congrats on the Bubinga Epic. I have one too and I get compliments on its beauty all the time.
If the string angle from the tailpiece to the bridge bothers, you a blank tailpiece with your custom cuts could solve the problem. I've never priced tailpieces so I have no idea what one would cost.
