Bass rig. I love my alembic.

That's a really great looking bass. My bubinga Epic gets compliments just about every time I play out with her.

Cool pics. Very cool bass!

Sean,
That's a real beauty Bass! It looks like you have the AE-2 filter upgrade? Can't beat that! I love my Epic 5 string fretless. Loads of midrange growl.
Looks like the crowd really likes your drummer!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! richbass- i absolutley love the look of the bubinga to. I also get complimets keurosix-if you're seeing that silver thing where a knob should be...well...thats not an upgrade a knob just fell off and I havnb't gotten around to replacing it yet, but im going to pretend for a minute that I do have the upgrade....ahhhhhhhh....
P.S-yes the girls in the band got significantly more attention than I. I'll post a pic of the 3 of us soon.

The drummer was wearing something similar (underwear small shirt). They got stared at a lot.

Gee, I posted that twice, didn't I..
...What a drag it is getting old....
-
You might want to move that belt buckle to the left hip, Ala Flim.
-
Amen Adam, I play my bass so high it doesn't reach the buckle and I still put the buckle on the hip.
-
Yeah I generally play my bass a lot higher, but that wasn't my strap. Somehow I managed to forget it, probably because I'm so awesome...but yeah looking at the pictures I wish I would have!

My belt buckle has started pointing towards the floor in the last few years.
Adam, Your Epic is a beauty. I imagine it sounds great through the new set up. It probably sounded great through the old set up.

My new (used) cab:

I found this cab down the street from me at a garage sale. It is a 1974 peavey 215 cabinet in near perfect condition. Apparently it used to belong to Grand Funk Railroad. The guy that sold it to me said that his dad recorded GFR in his basement and he has a studio still down there even though his dad died a number of years ago. I'm going attempt to get a tour of the studio. Yes, it sounds amazing. (sorry for the crappy pictures their off my cell phone) P.S-does anyone recognize the speakers? I have no idea what brand they are or anything. Any info would be appreciated.
-
They look like old JBL's to me. Definitely '70's era and probably no more than 150 watts a piece. If they are I would be very surprised.
-
I think with those black dots in the centre they might be CTS speakers. Just a guess, I don't recall ever seeing those on JBL's
-
They look like the metal dust cover that JBL used back then.
-
I suspect they are CTS. The used a metal dome with a vent back in that era. My JBL's from that era always had a solid dome (E130,K140,D120).
Keith
-
I would agree they are not 70's era JBL as I have two 15 E130's I still use from the late 70's. They are both solid metal domes.
Regardless a great find!
-
Damn, I'm getting crushed here.............
-
Sure they're not Black Widwo or Eminence.
I bought a Peavey cab just like this one new 1977 and it came with Eminence in it. I'm not sure when thery started using Black Widow.
-
If you decide to pop the cabinet open the magnet shape should further confirm if they are CTS if the label is missing. A lot of CTS speakers use a square magnet. They were more or less the Eminence of their era in that they were OEM'ed in a lot of cabinets.
Keith
-
Olie,
I don't ever remember Eminence having a metal dome. They might have since Eminence was started by one of the founders of CTS and their early designs are supposedly copies of CTS.

I managed to get a look at the magnet by popping one of the handles off, it's square shaped. So probably CTS then? Very interesting speakers, thats for sure. I've never seen any quite like them.
-
Looks like they are CTS:

That carvin looks to to be constructed almost identical to my peavey not to mention the speaker looks the same.

I think this is MY Baby Now! I should be taking delivery Tuesday. I think I'll actually replace the Bass knob. Do you know what happened to the G Tuner cover with the A on it?
Cheers!
Tony

Hi Tony,
When I got my pre-owned Epic the cover was missing from the E tuner. Alembic told me that the cover isn't available seperately and gave me a price for the tuner. I don't remember what it was exactly as I just never got around to ordering one. That's been 4 years ago this month. The good news is the other three covers have stayed on. Congratulations on the new Baby.
