Are you sure that isn't a Wenge top? The color and grain don't look right for bubinga.
-
I agree, that is Wenge. Beautiful, chocolate Wenge.
-
How do I find out, I bought it from a guy that I know in the music business, and he said that it was bubinga. Can Alembic tell me anything from the sn. ?
-
Gee you know after I heard from you guys , I looked at a bubinga wood bass on the showcase page, and I would have to agree with you about my epic being a chocolate wenge. I guess I learn something new every day. I never questioned the wood type , I just took his word on it. I guess I never looked at a picture of the bubingawood finish to compare it to my Epic. Thanks for setting me straight!

Dave,
To get more info on your bass, you can post a request in the Owning an Alembic / Serial Number History Requests topic. It may take a while to get the info as this is a spare time project for Mica. Also, be sure to do a search of the whole forum for your serial number to see if anyone has already requested info.

Dave, it's a beautiful bass, whatever wood it has on top. Pics of my Bubinga 5 are linked below. The top picture (where it looks a bit darker than the middle one) is a better representation of the color of mine.

Hey Dave,
Looks like Wenge to me. Mine is almost identical, but fretless. Here is a good lighted pic showing the top which is Wenge. Wenge has a very big open grain as can be seen in your first pic, but bubinga does not.
