Saw the Clarke Duke Project last night here in Minneapolis and they absolutely blew the roof off the Dakota Club.
While Stanley spent his time on electric playing his usual short-scale Series II (not the one with the dragon inlay) there was another bass (the backup?) on stage with him. Naturally, it was a Stanley model, looked like a Series I, was unmistakeably an Alembic but had a bookmatch-to-center buckeye burl top and what looked almost like PRS bird markers. Anyone know anything about this stunningly gorgeous bass?

That's my old bass seen here (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=7273) and the first bass in this thread (http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/77828.html?1337811880).

Somewhere on this Forum there is a youtube link in which Stanley Clarke talks about his gear (including the Buckeye-burl beauty which he or his equipment manager called a 'work of art'

Thank you Pierre-Yves. That is exactly the rig I saw him play last night.
At least I properly identified the cocobolo bass as the tenor.

I saw that last night after Googling Stanley Clarke bass gear. Great piece. Stan is the man!

I got a couple of really good shots of the buckeye bass at the Nashville show. One of the crew members even moved it over for me to get the pics. Possibly the best looking bass I have ever seen.

Clarke / Duke played here in Detroit last night. My kids told me that he had two Alembics on stage but didn't say if he played them both. I was supposed to be there, but I'm in the hospital (discharge in a few hours) with viral meningitis I picked somewhere on my recent trip to Stuttgart / Munich.
I'll see their photos when I get home today.

James; hope you are feeling better and that the virus is gone. I imagine that was not a pleasant experience.
-
Yeah, all the best James, and thanks once again for telling me a couple of years ago, how to play a long scale series bass when you're a short guy like me. Your technique works perfectly.

Get better soon, James!
