Wow - that's the wildest zebrawood I've ever seen. Beautiful bass. Congrats.

I love what I call 'Martian' wood, pieces that aren't on the 'traditional+pretty' list.  I've always thought that the beauty of wood IS the unpredictability that God put in it.  There's a lot to be said for the looks most people expect, but I truly enjoy the 'wood from Mars' pieces that need no explanation.

This one certainly qualifies.  Too cool, many congrats!  Now, where's that sycamore . . .

That's hilarious!  But the random beauty of nature has nothing to do with magic elves or any other imaginary beings!

Beautiful Essense!  It really is the most gorgeous example of erratic zebrawood I've ever seen -and the bookmatch to center and Europa electronics make it truly awesome!

Congratulations, Jeff, on a GREAT score!  What a stunning bass!  The combination of form/aesthetics and function is hard to top!

thanks for the kudos everyone.. the only problem that I have with this bass is that while playing, I'll look down and get totally lost in the grain..always finding something new in the pattern..then suddenly the band will stop and yell at me...d'oh!

Between that and playing with the sweep of the filter, they are *that* close to banning the Alembic..if that happens, see the thread You know it's time to go when.....

hmmm..I just went through all the Essence's posted here..I've got the only bookmatch-to-center posted!  Bizzare!  I would have thought the option was more popular than that.

Hi!
I'm in about the same position!!
Nearly banned from using the Series 1
Why??   I don't know-maybe it's just too much for them---and it's a zebrawood-but not as beautiful as yours
Keep me posted about the problem of the side markers

George,
I thought it was your rig that was banned.  Something about blowing the others off the stage.

I fixed that problem by simply nailing the other band member's feet to the floor! Seems to be OK now.
The last time out with it, was at a Jam Session in Stirling-(Home of the castle and William Wallace) and I was as drunk as a skunk. Been drinking pints of Stella Artois all day so couldn't remember any of the songs! Decided that the best solution was to turn the volume way up and hope for the best--my BIG mistake. They still talk about it even weeks later. Life when you are middle aged can be somewhat of a problem at times.
