Title: My new used Essence 5 string fretless
Post by: juggernaught on May 18, 2007, 08:57:37 AM
Got my first Alembic this last week.  Drove all the way to Los Angeles from NM to get it from a member, midmoto.  Some of the story is here (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=12344).  midmoto is great to trade with btw, and very gracious for giving this one up.

More pics if you want 'em.
When I saw this thing, I nearly dropped my jaw. I've been stunned on how it sounds too.  I've never played a bass so nice.

Cool bass!

Did you enjoy the 12 hour drive?  When I met my wife, she was at school in Las Vegas (NM Highlands).  I did the drive from Orange County to NM quite a few times.  Mind numbing isn't it?

Is that a burl maple top?  It's cool whatever it is....

Devon, glad to see you got this bass. Enjoy it to it's fullest.

Mind numbing.  Yes.... At least I've got a friend in Santa Barbara.  It's a spalted maple top.  Perdy....
Tomorrow I get the truss rods adjusted.  I don't think it likes the weather here.

That's the coolest Essence I've seen as of now... That thing is killer, and more pics would be great.  Is the fretboard worn down at all?

Cheers,
Will

And the back:

The fretboard has very little appreciable wear on it.  I've switched to flats, but the fretboard is so thick that I could sand it a bunch of times.
