This is my new Essence 5 with walnut top and retro fitted LED's by S.I.M's which the previous owner had done, I must say they did a top job, very happy with it and it plays and sounds like a dream, I think you'll agree the walnut top is very special.

That didnt work did it? Hmm any suggestions out there?

The image appears to have the extension .JP2, which is not commonly supported. Try saving the original as a regular .JPG and upload that for your next post.

Right here goes again, Thanks adriaan, you were quite right, mind you they seem very big, no need for a magnifying glass with these babies! Serial No. is 98K11786.

Nice one! Could you edit your message, to insert line breaks before each of the images?

Nice essence Digby! And welcome to the club. I have relatives in Darlington and Northallerton so maybe we can get together next time I'm down your way. There are a few other members in your neck of the woods; off the top of my head, Terry Capewell is in stockton and Mark Stannage ('grateful') is in robin hood's bay and i'm sure there's someone else in the Osmotherley area.
If you're free on the 22nd November, consider a trip across to Manchester for Bass day. There'll be a few of us there - further details can be found in this thread (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=9834).

Cool, Yeah I may get over to see bass day, i'll have to check out who's playing this year, its good to know there are some local guys about in the club then, I was actually born in Northallerton. Still getting to grips with the club and it s format, its all new to me , so excuse me if I make some mistakes along the way!

Welcome
What a beautiful bass. Is it a low B or hich C?
-
Thank you. Its a Low B. I've finally managed to get my hands on an Alembic, having played bass for 22 years and I've got a feeling it wont be my last. I'll have to sell some of my other basses first though or my wife will kill me!
-
Welcom Digby, and congratulations on a beautiful Essence. What a sweet top!
They do grow on you (I've got three Alembics)

Hey, Digby!
She's absolutely stunning. There's an understated elegance to the Essence shape and with walnut the more you look, the deeper and more organic it appears. I love the way the curvature of the tailpiece echoes the curvature of the body.
-
Greetings Digby:
I do love a bass with a wonderful walnut top to it. Yours is outstanding. I had possibly the first Alembic bass Martin Sims put LEDs on, and it is still listed on the 5th page of their gallery. They do an excellent job with LEDs, and they really add to the coolness of your bass. I wish they had a Sims shop in the US. Thanks for sharing your pix with us and welcome to the club!
-
Cheers Thomas, thanks for the comments.
Ha, funny you should mention it but my Alembic also appears on page 5 of the gallery on the Sims website, on the right hand side, third row up from the bottom.
-
My old bass is pictured just to the left of yours and also starts that row. Third picture of it is in the next row in the second position. What a coincidence! Here is its thread, for a better look. Not a lovely bass, like your beauty, but it played and sounded wonderfully. Note that I removed the brass bar used to put long scale string on this short scale bass - back to its original configuration, so it looks a touch different than in Sims' shots.
