Hello,
I'm waiting for my new Alembic signature MK5.
He is walking now across the ocean with UPS, started yesterday from Florida to Switzerland.
Mica, I would have some information about this double omega: why double omega (peghead & body) and why 3 strings down the peghead, not under ?
What is the story about this ?
Thank's!

Congratulations on the MK. That si a very nice top on it.
I know I've said it many times but I love Coco-Bolo. Ironic considering I don't have one with Coco-Bola in my hands yet.

The Omega peghead shape is an option just like the Omega cutout on the body.
The peghead drill pattern changed when Gotoh changed their tuner design. The post on these tuners is a cyllinder. The ones on your Stanley bass are contoured. If we use the 3+2 pattern with these tuners, the E string will hit the B string post.
-
That's a gorgeous bass; I love the top!
-
Pierre, it looks beautiful!!!
They're putting the finish on my MK Signature Deluxe Coco Bolo Balance K right now, I can't wait to get it!!!
Meanwhile, I can enjoy yours! What an incredible top! And the mini-omega looks great!
-
Hi Pierre,I've just been listening & watching your video's of your playing some of clarkee's music. It's good to hear how close you get to his tone with your signature bass.
Do you tune your bass as a tenor?
If so what strings do you use. I can't buy tenor bass strings in stores where I live so will have to look on the internet. Your bass looks so much like mine they could be twins.
I love coco bola and your new bass is sexy ooh la laa
all the best,
Jazzyvee

Thank's all !!
I will use on my SC strings from Germany, Pyramid for short scale. It will be tune ADGC with gauge of 085,065,045,030 ... if the scale support them.
Jazzyvee, on my videos, my SC is tune EADG, I'm playing very high on my scale. I will change the strings and the tune in 4 days, when the MK5 arrive!!
Here they are others pictures, from BassCentral:

Holy crap.
-
What is the extra switch for?
-
It's for the side red leds, amber on the 12 & 24 frets. Is it to play on dark night or in day with big fog !! Not really used.
-
Ok I see, I normally see that switch near to the jack socket rather than within the controls so I thought it was some special boost/Cut switch.
I have not been a fan of that shape bass but as a 5 stringer and importantly a beautiful piece of coco bola it looks amazing.

;o))
-
I agree with kungfusherifff.....holy crap

Pierre-Yves,
F?licitations sur votre achat. L'appr?cier. Si j'achetais encore 5 corde, je voudrais qu'elle ressemble juste au v?tre. Incroyable!

Wow, enjoy it! I like the back as much as the front. The Omega is stunning. Great woods!

Many thank's ! I receive today my bass by ups. But it is to my mother's home, I will take and discover it tomorow.
This morning, I changed the strings on my short scale Stanley, and tuned it a,d,g,c.
No problem with nut or bridge, all was perfect, nothing to change great sound !!!
My 5 strings would be tune maybe e,a,d,g,c.
-
Yes, the back is as beautiful as the front!
-
That is a beautiful instrument! What is the blue detail at the 21st fret? Another LED?
By the way, Pierre-Yves, you will find the side LEDs to be an amazing assist if you are playing on a dark stage. One where the lighting is high out front, but dimmer back where the drummer, keyboard, bassist are.
Peace,
James
-
malthumb, I will be never at back, but in front !
My project is Tribute to Stanley Clarke.
The blue one is an inlay of mother of blue pearl.
-
Fantastic axe!! Congratulations.
-
Thank's ! Tonight, I change original strings (BEADG) for the set EADGC, using a 6 string set 105,085,065,045,030.
Nothing to change !!! (bridge or nut).
It sound great, like my SC, no buzz. Certainly I will wait for the wood work, but I believe there is no problem.
Tomorrow I will show pictures from my bass at home.
-
on attend ca avec impacience,
superbe cette basse,
felicitation
-

just a question: what mean SC, MK, SJ, MJ, JJ, or EVH ?
SC & MK ok, but the others ?
-
Pierre, EVH stands for Edwin Van Huik.
For more info, see this thread: http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/3202.html?1180738439 (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=8209)
JJ stands for Jimmy Johnson. SJ and MJ I have no idea about...
Mark
-
Thank's the 12 strings think !!
Sorry, Mark !!
;o))
I know JJ, and I know only the bass connection of EVH.
SJ .... Sir James ? Saussa Je ? ...
-
SJ is the Stanley Clarke Standard, MJ the Mark King Standard. SC & MK are their respective Signature Deluxe models.
Peter
-
merci !! but why J for standard ?
-
non, ma Stanley Clarke standart, et bien not? SC!
My Stanley Clarke standart writing SC

-
Sounds nice!

Yesterday, I was playing with my band and my gear:
Alembic F1-X, Yamaha P 5000 S, 31 band EQ, lexicon MX 200, Behringer splitter, the sound was incredible, very clear, like cristal (It's difficult to say in english), this bass sound best than my SC, I don't know really why ... because lenght of scale, electronic is the same, strings are the same...
It sound exactly like Clarkee in his duo with Armand Sabal-Lecco at North Sea jazz 2004... EXACTLY!!! (you can hear on Youtube.com)

some new pictures outside:

You certainly know how to use a camera to show those basses off beautifully.
A lovely collection you have there.
Jazzyvee
-
collection ?
Only two ... next will be the Stanley replica... when I will have somne money !!!
Thanx jazzyvee.
-
Well let me put it this way, It looks like you are starting a collection. :-)
I hope you get some more money to get more Alembics. Is there such a thing as having too many alembics??
Do you have other basses or are you exclusively Alembic now?
Jazzyvee
-
Actually I have only my 2 Alembic. In the past, I have had.....a lot ... but I musted sell one to buy another... from 1977 (?):
Rickenbacker 4001, Fender precision, jazz, Ibanez, Kramer, Steinberger, BC rich, series I (3), Distillate, Music man sting ray and some others I don't remember now ...
If I buy another Alembic, my wife will leave our home ... maybe it's best like that, she hate jazz, jazz rock... LOL. Sometimes not lol...
-
Very nice bass and great sound.
