Title: Mark King V vs. Series II V

I have what I feel are the two nicest basses I have ever owned. In another thread I have a picture of five Alembics I recently owned. I have since sold the two Stanley Clarke's and Mark King IV because I rarely played them. I kept my two favorites and I have to say the Series II is fantastic but the purple heart Mark King gives it a run for it's money. The former owners of this bass must regret selling it because it is simply fantastic. I realize most of us Alembic owners feel we have the bass and that goes to show the true excellence and superiority of Alembic. There are many other fine manufactures out there but there is only one Alembic.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/58834.jpg)

Both are wonderful.  Figured Purpleheart is spectacular.
 
Is the Series Rosewood or Ebony?

There is some significant diferences from one Neck to another (presuming both bodies are made with same wood and the top isn't thick enough to matters)?

The Series II is a killer. Nothing sounds like it. I recently sold the Purpleheart Mark King to a Alembic player in Germany. He already had two Alembics and wanted a third. The Series II electronics are expensive but worth it. The tonal variations are crazy.

I must agree with you McBassman in your assessment of the vast possibilities of tonal variations achieved with the Series II. I can dial in many tones with my Series I. I really dig your axe though, if I am ever financially able, I want the Series 5 string to complement my 4 string. (See Chalie's Distillate)
Continue to inudate our universe with the healing salve of the low frequencies produced by that marvelous axe of yours!
