Hi, this is my first post.
This bass is an export model of series I.
But this bass's center pickup does not work.
I measured a resistance of it. It was opened.
How do I care this bass?

The middle pickup is not a pickup, It is a hum cancillation device controlled by the middle two set screws on the back of your bass, that's the easy to tell you how it works, there are other's in the club that can explain it better than I can.
That's a nice bass you have there.

Mr. David, Thank you your comment.
Yes, this hum canceller does not work.
I tried to set screws on the back panel.
This hum canceller does not work on account of broken wires.

Hidehiro, sorry I missunderstood your Question,I hope you can get the problem fixed quick and easy. You have a very beautiful bass, I love the color of your pickups. I've only seen a few basses with that color of pickups, I bet the bass still sounds great, and is a dream to play. What kind of amp do you use. Have a great day

Hi Charles:
Yeah, I love those pickups too! I have them on my Brown Bass (Serial # 74 - 52) and have only seen them on a few Alembics. .
Jeff
p.s. Here's a picture. . it's take from and old photo sorry about the quality. I'm ready to take some new ones and post them. I just got this back (it's a long story) and it was in perfect shape except the brass parts need to be cleaned. Also . the tailpiece on mine seems different than any I've seen. Any info you or other members might have on these early Brown Basses is greatly appreciated. I also have a post in the Introductions section of the forum. .

Jeff - By the way, that tailpiece is known as the moustache tailpiece. I have a couple of basses with that same setup. Mine are close to yours in serial number too. The two I have with that tailpiece are serial numbers 47 and 49. I have pictures of both posted in the showcase section. I know it is hard to tell, but the one I have on serial number 49 is actually recessed into the body instead of being mounted on a wooden shim.

We call this the mustache tailpiece. It was on a couple of John Paul Jones' basses and a few others. We made a recent replica of the shape on this custom bass (http://www.alembic.com/info/FC_riff.html). Amazing story about your reunion with this instrument.
