Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Gives me a tingle just looking at it. Like looking at my basses brother! Which SN is this one? I notice that even the mustache tailpieces seem to differ bass to bass. Is that true?

Jeff - I like this one a LOT too.  This is one that was used for the picture in the LD Heater brochure back in the day.  I have had this bass for over 20 years now.  I picked it up at a guitar show in Dallas, Tx.  I bought it from the original owner who bought it new at that same show in Dallas!  When I got it, the bass had it's original case.  The case has since fallen apart.  I really don't play this one out anymore.  I guess it is retired.  I do use it at home a lot though, especially with headphones.

Yeah. . I'm looking at the copy of that catalog page you so generously made for me. I can see it is. It is a VERY cool bass . . but then you know that! Someday we simply MUST get our brother basses together for a reunion. You just *know* they hung on some rack there at Alembic side-by-side at some point in time(-;

Good to hear from you again Dela217!

This is what the bass looks like now.   It's gone through some changes.

 Thank You!  Yes.  I replaced the original electronics with Series II.

Michael, that is a beautiful bass! Do you hear a difference in the way the bass sounds with the newer electronics, aside from the ability to adjust the Q throughout its range?  And are those more current pickups made to fit that configuration or older early-mid 70s pickups?  I love those ‘73 basses!  :)

Rob,

To me the bass sounds so much better!    And it is dead quiet.    The pickups are new pickups that were made in the old style.    So everything was replaced.   Pickups, pots, harness, etc....

Speechless. When Dela posts an update to the Showcase Threads, he doesn't fool around.  :)

Gorgeous bass, Michael!

Any updates on the one that went home for repair after Katrina?

Once in a while I talk to Mica about it.    Last I heard they were still waiting for all of the salt to leech out of it.    Yuck.

Distilling salt from a bass, that sounds very Alembic!  :)
